which is better? compound or recurve crossbows? (or is this topic like the inline vs sidelock smokepole)

also why are todays crossbows so expensive? (new interest in crossbows due to more open thinking and/or laws permiting them for everyone).

Just thought I'd start off right....:smilielol5:

there is no "better" one. It depend on what your priorities are. Do a lot of digging here and other forums and you'll not have a problem deciding which is  right for you. Also, shoot as many of them as you can. That is very  important in the decision making  process, I think.

There is a wide range of crossbow prices. Like with any other product, you have to pay a premium for the bells and whistles.

Hey Moon, thought I might come join the fun over here.  Steve is a good fellow.  I would say you guys are practically neighbors.  Good to see you.  And hey TT!!  Moon knows his stuff, but like he says, there is a ton of info.  I think there are a few x-bows that are hitting the market that are not terribly expensive and still great pieces of equipment.  I can't name them because I just don't remember the names but take a look through all the info here and AT is another good place with lots of info.  Keep me informed if you make a purchase, I'd love to hear what you come up with!

Will do Bob.  First off I'm gonna go by the local dealer and get the "feel" of what fits then start from there.  Valley Heritage has the ten points, parkers, and excaliburs, one stop shop.:smilielol5:

I'm not saying  anything bad about the Scorpyd except..................OK. OK!:smilielol5:  Only kidding.

Coyote, I agree that the TP WR should be looked at. It looks a lot like one of my favorite value line crossbows (Pro Slider).

If I had to narrow it down to one crossbow I'd be in serious trouble:p

If you have more than one muzzleloader - better start saving your money.  I have several smokepoles and when I can afford another crossbow I'll be shopping.  As for now, I can only look.

I have them both and like them both for different reason but as far as accuracy, they are both dead on, 200 excal and 185 ten point, I do have an old bear relic also that needs to be re-strung it's a killer also but it missed the biggest buck I ever shot at, thus retired it.

Sucks TT I have more Muzzies that? Just use a arrow in that 410 (no Bullet but a wad)probably work fine. When we were kids we used a 410 shotgun that way:D Amazing we are still alive.

Good reply Iron Duke! ;)  I have received tremendous help here from many, many members and I thank everyone!

Moon has sent sent me a few PM's about certain questions I have had and helped steer me in the direction I am happy with throughout my 1st season.

As far as owning only one xbow.......ain't happening for me. Can't have enough of anything, if I only have one.
