Dear Fellow Crossbow Hunters,

The Mississippi House of Representatives passed HB 1282 by an impressive vote of 86 to 30, apparently reflecting the majority of Mississippi hunters.

The bill is now headed for the Senate Wildlife Committee. The Senate Wildlife Committee can amend HB 1282. The Committee has a little over three weeks to review and amend this bill, although they could take up HB 1282 at any time!

Those who oppose the bill want to see it die in the Senate Committee. They are doing so, in part, to block Mississippi General Crossbow licensees from participating in the October archery season, preferring to keep this user group separate from those who choose long bows, recurve bows, and compound bows.

If you are so inclined, please lend a hand by contacting the Chairman of the Senate Wildlife Committee (Tommy Gollott) and the nine other committee members.

Respectfully request that they amend HB 1282 to include crossbows on Line 8 of HB 1282.

The amended language, Line 8 of the bill should then read,
"With bow and arrow and crossbows: October 1 through October 31."

Also, please request that your family and friends to take the time and contact the ten members of the Senate Wildlife Committee anyway you can and do it NOW!

Best Regards,
Wayne King, Interim Vice-Chairman

Congrats....Keep up the pressure! The anti crossbow organizations are usually a little more entrenched politically simply because they are established organizations. A grassroots campaign can work! Do not take no for an answer!:ack2: Let them see the power of the hunters of your state. Good luck!!
