Today (Tuesday, March 2) Mississippi House Bill 1282 died in the Senate Wildlife Committee.

This was the bill that would have shortened the early archery season by two weeks and would have allowed General Crossbow Permit holders and primitive weapons hunters in the field two weeks earlier.

Died in Committee may be somewhat of a misnomer as it did not come-up for a vote; rather the chairman of the Committee (Senator Gollott) did not bring it up and it died based on a legislative dead line.

There were two other House hunting related bills that did make it out of the Senate Wildlife Committee. There is always a chance that a full inclusion amendment could be attached to one of these bills when they reach the Senate floor.

Meat Hunter,
I have kept up with these kind of bill since the early 80's and everytime that a crossbow gets mentioned all of the shortsighted people ban together and fan the flames of contention. The same old arguement in the name of debate(what a joke) that keeps them in thier shell of fear of the unknown.
I think that the big mistake that the DFPW made and that we crossbowers make is being to vocal and trying to reason with them ( A person convienced against thier will is of the same opinion still) we need to be those of action not of words. Let them argue and fuss among themselves and we will get more done.
There are enough of them that are self opinionated and will turn on the others in their group like a pack of wolves or dogs turning on each other. Just watch them and wait for then chance to eat the spoils while they are fighting over it.
I plan to get more involved with ya'll as sone as I get my new email address set up.  Soon !
