The mfg class makes it much better and more inviting. Too bad the standing position only. It knocks out the dainty female shooters. Good luck to all who shoot this one! Let us know how it turns out.

I just got off the phone with Mike from the ASA.
Ill try to answer some of the questions I have herd floating around both here and on other sites.
The crossbow class is going to be a "hunter class" so to speak. Scope are up to 6 power. Adjustable power is fine as long as they are locked "taped or other means" onto 6 or lower. Target type scopes "dial in range" are not and you have a speed limit of 300 + 3%.
Now the manufactures class is going to be a "open class" so to speak.Power doesnt matter, and neither does type " target or tactical" is legal. You also get a higher speed limit of 330 + 3%.
Mike seems excited to have us join the ASA ranks, and is very open to sugestions. So come on guys lets register and go show up in force.
There are alot of people saying crossbows have no place in competitive archery, lets prove them wrong.

Moon,
I can't make this inaugural ASA crossbow shoot due to work. When the rules are finalized, time permitting, yes I will shoot ASA crossbow. The known 40 yd rule is right up my alley!

All,
Man you missed a good shoot!!
It was awesome. There were 20 crossbow shooters there. 12 in the 300 fps class, and 8 in the 330 fps class. We had a husband and wife team (Ryan and Anna Snook), we had Father and Son (Warren and Mark Beck), and 3 generations of Eskews.
Saturday morning we were mixed together, 330 shooters on the same targets as 300 shooters. This was nice to be able to meet others, start friendships, and even alittle per target competition. Saturday afternoon we were assigned to our own classes for the final half. That can add to the "pucker" factor.
The A.S.A. was very accomodating to the shooters. We could visit with others in the class due to the way the A.S.A. shoots both sides of the road. Just meet in the center of the road to visit with spectators, or fellow shooters.
We need to thank Richard St. Louis from Fla. (Hogman) for his efforts in getting this rolling, and Paul V. from Parker in his efforts to the sport also.
Javan Parsons of Excal won the 300fps division, and Paul V. of Parker won the 330 class with a 406. (Nice job Paul, it was fun to shoot with you and Dad Saturday morning!!!)
Paul V. took some photos during the shoot. I hope the are posted soon for all to see.
THE A.S.A IS HAVING MORE CROSSBOW CLASSES IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE...THIS YEAR!!!

If you werent there you missed a awsome shoot. The course was great, and the people were even better.
We do need to thank Hogman, Paul, and Hoss for all they did. If it wasnt for the extreem effort they put in, we wouldnt have been there. I also want to thank all the competitors. We were the face of our sport this weekend, and everyone was first class.
For thoes reasons we have already been invited to the next shoot in Metropolis, and to the Clasic. We are on track for full inclusion next year, so lets keep the numbers up and continue to prove ourselves. Twenty at the first event was GREAT, but twenty five at the next event sounds even better!!

I had a great time as well and it was a pleasure meeting everyone. This was my first archery anything competition and everyone was very helpful and friendly.
I would appreciate seeing or getting a copy of any pictures that were taken especially the group shot. Please PM me if you know how I contact the woman who took the group shots.

ASA allowing crossbows is great but the numbers need to go up. IBO has been shooting Xbow class for several years and the ave. attendance is only 10 to 12 at the national shoots. I'm not sure about local shoot numbers. in Michigan.
