Will the new software have a chat room? I hope!!!!!!!;)
Not at first, but I'm glad you brought that up.  I need to know how many would take advantage of the live chat.  The software is available in different levels as far as how many at one time will be chatting.

I've never participated in a chat room but if CN had one I'm sure I'd be on it.

No forum that I particapate in has an active chat room. Many have it, but it goes largely unused. Seems it's almost as easy to just use PMs.

I might.  Would depend on the topic, I guess.  I'm not too fast on my feet sometimes, and you can get put on the spot awfully easy when you're LIVE!  ;)

One downside I can see to online chat is when fellow members may PM another member to chat.   Say DingleBerry357 PMs me to get on chat, but I don't want to talk to that old buzzard on chat.  So I either get on chat just to make him happy, or I don't and he sends me 100 more PMs wondering what is my problem.  I may not even have a problem, I just don't want to chat!  But then his feelings are hurt if I don't, and I am aggravated if I feel pressured into it.

I'm just saying that if chat is an option members will have to be empathetic to each other and not get hard feelings just because someone else does not want to join in chat with them in real time.  It may not seem like a big deal to some people, but it may be to  others.  It could get aggravating for some people, especially if others see you logged on and you get a bunch of people ask to talk to you in real time.  I can personally see times when I don't want to get into a long, drawn out conversation, but I would feel real bad turning someone down because they may take it as I don't like them or something when that would not be the case at all.

I'm not saying that as a 'no' vote for chat, but these are things that many people don't consider.  It could cause some to feel pressured and cause them to stay off the site or stay on ghost mode.   We have a great thing going here, and I just don't want to see it go south.  Not saying it would, I'm just throwing that out as something to think about.  :)

I've never chatted before, so I will probably not use it.  Like Ranger said, suppose someone doesn't want to chat with you, there might be hurt feelings.  As far as I'm personally concerned, it's like the reputation points, I  just as soon not have either activated.  But that just my opinion.  Thanks for asking UL. You make it so everyone's opinion counts.  That's what keeps up together.

Thanks for all the feedback.  Let me get things rolling and I'll most likely do the smallest chat room which allows 5 users at one time to chat with each other.  If we find that we enjoy it, I will upgrade to 20 users at a time.  If not, I'll drop it.

OH YEA. There are times when we're doing business behind the scenes and instant chat would be so much quicker to get things done. Sometimes, it is something that needs to be done in a hurry, and by the time you send a PM back and fourth 3 times, ten minutes have passed when it could have taken 2 minutes.

No problem.  Just click on your name in the upper right.  Then click on my profile.  In the upper left will be a blank spot where your picture will go.  Click it and a window will come up that will let you browse you computer to upload a picture.

FWIW UL, I searched the internet for quite some time before I joined to get information for purchasing my 1st xbow.  It is surprising how many times CrossbowNation came up in my searches with good information. Couldn't see the pics in threads though, which was a definite factor to make me join. Still the information here is amoung the best and once I purchased my xbow I wanted to sign-up. I might add that if you use Google picture search, some pictures, perhaps those uploaded by members to their albums do show up.

I feel the reason you see so many guests on sites are peoples fear of the Internet! I have friends that use the computer but refuse to sign on to sites & give any information for fear of their info being compromised. Not to sound old, but I am, the people who were brought up in the computer generation are much more trusting of the internet than us "old dogs". I have given this site to numerous friends and most of them frequent this site but only as guests. This is not a knock on CN but the entire internet and the information world we live in!
