Hey, it's Dee.  You know the non-resident MS. crossbow hunter.  Last season was my first season to hunt with a crossbow because of age eligibility.  I got my regular deer and archery permits at a feed store, but they couldn't give me my xbow permit, because I had to send in to Jackson with tan application and the proper I.D. I would like to renew all my permits including my  crossbow permit on-line at the same time.  My question is:

l. Is it possible to renew the x-bow on line at the same time as my regular deer permit along with archery and primitive weapon permits?  Is that option available on-line?

2.  If I have to do them separate, like I had to do last season will I have to send in another application and necessary I.D. for crossbow every year?

3.  If necessary, can I call Jackson and renew all of my permits?  Or do they do that over the phone?

I would think that everything is listed under my deer permit number because when I did get my xbow permit it had my same number that I've had for 5 years.

I know it's early yet, but I will be out of pocket, so to speak, in most of Sept. when I usually apply for my permits.

I had a feeling it would have to be separate from the regular rifle and archery permits.  And I would think they would have my I.D. information on file. Sooooooooooooo, maybe I wouldn't have to send a copy of my LA. drivers license and copy of my birth certificate to them again.   I guess I'll just have to call them and ask so I'll not be out in the cold without a xbow permit, come Oct. 1st. My permit was a plastic card as well and I really don't think there is a difference between residents and non-residents as far as the Special Permit for the corssbows  go.  Only for deer hunting and archery and premitive weapon permits, becaue of the $$$.$$

Thanks bucknbill for your information.  It helped.

Why not just give your DNR a phone call and ask them. Here in Illinois all you have to do once you turn 62 is have proof of age when you hunt with an xbow. Before that you have to have a doctor sign off on a form so that you can shoot an xbow. This has to be renewed, but I do not know how often. From what I have read on this form, you folks can do alot more than the deer hunters in Illinois can do [Ex: bait].
