Hello All,

On another forum I participate in we were bouncing around the idea of putting together a hunting DVD.  That group got way to large and uncontrollable.  I have been tossing around a few ideas.  Basically I would like to do a pro Crossbow piece featuring hunting from several states.  This DVD would focus on hunting in the persons state under current crossbow rules.  The animal of choice to harvest is completely up to the hunter.  I have started to do some editing.  The idea I am thinking is a main intro and host who goes off to different parts of the US of A to capture whatever.  Here is where everyone comes in.  If you want to be involved (and I hope you would) I would ask for about 5 hours of footage (I will give you a formula to follow) that is filmed with hopefully very steady hands.:)  Video cameras would preferable be Mini-DV with 3CCD.  But if you have clear footage that is acceptable.  I would like to dummy down the clarity a little to give the DVD a 1970's Mutual of Omaha feel.
If I can get a firm commitment from about 6-10 hunters we can make a go.

Jake, I know some of us would like to help but already have our footage going to other places.  Hopefully some of the members here will step up.  The problem is not many people will own a 3ccd camera.  Btw, what editing software do you use.  I'm a big fan of Apples, so of course, Final Cut is what I use.

I am typing this on my Macbook right now.  I converted to an Apple 5 years ago and never looked back.  I am getting used to Final Cut Express.  The 3CCD camera is not that big of deal based on what I want to do with the footage.  I shoot an inexpensive Panasonic GS-320.  I have access to a few areas down here and in Michigan to whack away at stuff.  But something I learned long ago was that I have a great face for radio.:)  If several newbies (like me) are willing to participate.  But I am glad that you are using a Mac because I maybe having to fall back to you with questions.

Yes,

I will be filming all hunts in Michigan.  I have a doe hunt in January that I will be filming.  4 does in two days, it will be with my rifle but I might be able to knock out a few hogs as well.  Axis are still hard horned down here I believe, but if I wasn't doing hard core daddy duty right now (3 rd olds are the worst:confused:) I might be out chasing an Aoudad. Oh well, maybe next weekend!

Jake in Texas,
Since you're new to the Exotics here, let me tell you how the horn thing works.
On Axis deer, there is no set breeding season or rut. So, those deer are born all year around. Axis or Chital deer, loose their horns on their birthday. So, you can have within a herd, some with nubs, some in velvet at different levels, and some in hard horn.
I had access to some real trophies, but the reason for that is during whitetail season, they would drop horns the first of November. Hence, many grandpas in the group. I usually only guide during Deer season and the rest of the year is MINE, MINE, MINE! I'm not doing it that way anymore. I quit that ranch and want to see new terrain and new animals. I got bored with the other ranch. Same routine for 5 years. No hogs there either. Deer don't exactly excite me. I've watched too many, for too many years 24/7. I watch deer as soon as I wake up every morning out my bedroom window to start my day, everyday.

I have a 3CCD camera. Plan on filming all I can this year. I'm not hooked up with anyone for video use. If I get anything usable this year I'm in.

I use Sony Vegas to edit.

Hey Jake I have some private ground we can hunt and film when your in town ,its in Jackson county and we have some nice deer. They should be real healthy too as there is 40 acres of corn still up and they have been eating swell this winter which will make it nice for the fawns and the mothers to be.
I have a camera but havent ever taped but thought I would try this coming year.
What kind of doe hunt do they have in Jan here in michigan ? I dont ever get involved in them doe hunts and didnt know they hunted after jan 1. I could stand to shoot some does but I had that dont shoot doe beat into me so many years its hard to get out of it. I do shoot wounded ones and if I find a older one and the time is right I will shoot one but I would rather shoot these coyotes.
I had Skinner2 come down and he went out and filled his doe tag with the smoke pole in Dec. she was a nice one, prob went 150# anyway. He had too much snow to get into his property and I can just about drive anyplace the deer goes unless its water.
Let me know if you want to hunt and make tape.
