There was a bill a couple of yrs ago to allow Hunting on Sundays. Does anyone know who proposed it and what happened? We still cannot hunt on Sundays. Thanks to all in the know.

I believe the law has been changed in VA to hunt on shooting preserves on Sundays

I just posted in nc. Forum congratulating them on the no sunday hunting victory then I read this I can't understand it. I really feel for you guys I remember when michigan had no sunday hunting in some counties and it was a drag you work all week and only get one day to hunt does anyone know why this law is in place. does it have something to do with religion or what.it really doesn't seem like it would be that hard to defeat in this day and age but obviously I'm wrong . Sometimes I just shake my head and wonder how things get so messed up.

We just got Sunday bowhunting last year in NJ...limited to private land and State Wildlife Management Areas only.  I agree...those of us who work five days a week....to only get one day was wrong.  We kept all public land and State Parks/county parks/federal land out of the mix.

There is only 1 activity you can't do on Sundays in VA - that's hunt on your own land during a legal hunt season. The hunt that was legalized for Sundays was shooting game birds on a licensed ( that's spelled $$$ for the state) game preserve. I'm still trying to figure it all out. Either a quail isn't really dead when it's shot in a game preserve or it's a different kind of dead than a deer shot by a bow on Sunday. Whatever it is they keep sticking it to us every year this comes up. I also have said if the state could sell a Sunday only bonus hunting license it would pass with 100% approval.

We have the dog chasers ( those that hunt deer with dogs) and the Farm Bureau against us as well as the Equestrian people. Personally I've never seen a 8 point Stallion in the woods. They had a survey and it passed with the majority saying yes to Sunday hunting. But they threw it away like they do all the other surveys they don't like the results of.

Maybe 1 day........
