Welcome wildside!! If it is important to hunt from a tree, various companies now make stands that come with a ladder attached. It became necessary for me to stay on the ground and I do not regret it.

Hey Wildside, don't pay any attention to Dave Hawk. He can't spell.
Glad to have you here.

I'm doing okay although this body I am in isn't doing so hot. But the Lord is giving me a new one, so why worry about it?

welcome wildside, i live just over the border in ne ohio. i have used a climber for about 12 yrs now. i have used a api grand slam extreme the entire time. it takes little effort to get up a tree. you want to avoid cherry, sycamore, shag bark hickory, any thing with a loose bark. also avoid knotty trees. i personally really like the footstraps that i slide my feet in to. the mfger's have gotten away from that for what ever reason. make sure that where your stand's V meets the tree there are steel teeth to bite in to the bark. wear a safety harness every time you go up. have fun!
