I solved my wet foot problem by buying myself a pair of Red Wing Irish Stetter boots. Mt feet stay both toasty and dry. Still, your idea has merit.

My son and I put out mineral rocks this last season for the first time and man did they ever work. Just check out my trailcam pics in the Trailcam Forum.
We plan on keeping them out year round!
Another trick, that I learned from an old guide and that works awesome, is to fill an old nylon stocking with a couple pounds of salt. ( I cut the legs off of my wife's old pantyhose ) then hang it from a tree limb high enough the deer can't reach it. It gets damp and turns into a rock inside the hose. Every time it rains the salt will leech out onto the ground below. What really makes this effective is that the deer get a taste for the salt but usualy can't get a lot at any one time. They know it's there just out of reach and keep coming back more often looking for more. You wouldn't believe the holes they'll dig in the ground looking for it!

In Topic: DO YOU CARRY YOUR HANDGUN WITH YOUR XBOW??

Here in Missouri they recently passed a law that if you have a CCW then you can carry while archery hunting. I carry 24/7 period! I didn't get a CCW to leave my handgun at home nor in the truck. I often hunt public land, but even on private land I've run into trespassers. Many times the trespassers argued with me, even on my own land, untill discovering I was armed. Funny how they sudenly came to their senses about where they were at and then became very poilite. Then there's the time my son, a professional Certified Executive Bodyguard, and I came upon a low life berating a man in a wheelchair for hunting with a crossbow. He was screaming at the poor bewildered gentleman threatening to beat the disabled man senseless and take his xbow, and wheelchair, because he didn't like him hunting with a crossbow during Archery Season. I asked him if he'd like to try taking mine and my son and I proceeded to give the guy an attitude adjustment, however I'm disabled myself and often hunt alone. You just never know when nor where trouble will happen, it seldom makes an apointment! Folks are issued a CCW because they are deemed responsible enough to carry. When hunting should be no exception. We aren't able to use the handgun to say, put a wounded deer down during Archery Season, nor to shoot it in the first place...that's why we are Archery Hunting and carrying bows. The firearm is for emergencies, be they caused by humans, animals or the need to signal for help. I simply choose not to cancel my life insurance when ever I hunt.
