From Missouri?

I've long had my crossbow permit but things have changed since I got mine. Mine's a laminated card and permanent. My son and I were in an ATV accident back in September. He broke his left arm at the elbow. It's healed but he'll never be able to straighten it out again and it's also very painful when he draws a bow. Soooooo, we want to get him a crossbow permit. My question is, here in Missouri, how do you go about it these days? I know you still need a doctor's statement, and they no longer issue permanent ones, but that's about it.

The Cowboy Argument
06 January 2012 - 07:46 PM
I know this is a crossbow forum but I also know that like me many of you have Conceal Carry Permits. A lot of folks claim that those who get CCW Permits do so because we want to play Cowboy. Best they can come up with to trash us I guess. If they had a clue as to what they are talking about they would know just how lame a statement they are spouting. If you take on the resonsibility of carrying you are held to far stricter standards than those who don't. That is as it should be. Someone legaly carrying is far more likely to walk away from a fight and far more likely to avoid a confrontation, than someone who doesn't carry. Either that or you quickly lose your right to carry. Kinda shoots, pardon the unintentional pun, the heck out of the Cowboy insinuations now don't it?
Add to that that National Stats say a Permit holder is 300% less likely, than a non-permit holder, to commit a firearm related crime and the nay sayers have to realy stretch their imaginations to come up with an argument.

Checked our trailcams this morning and found these pics on one. Check out the length of the eyeguards on this beauty! These were taken about 200 yards from my house.

I scored a nice Doe Saturday, the opening day of our Muzzleloader Season. Shot her through both lungs at 18 yards while hunting from the ground. She walked almost right up to me and never knew I was there. The Optima Pro .50 sure did it's job. She ran about 50 yards and dropped. I watcher her run, stop, and fall over. Dead when I got to her. The 245 grain Aerotip Power Belt did an excellent job. Though I didn't need it there was a very good blood trail that would have been a sinch to follow. She was a very healthy Doe with two inches, or more, of fat and weighed aprox 95 pounds, or more, field dressed. Pretty good eating too as we had venison stew that night.
My bad ankle, the one I hurt in the ATV acident back in Sept., is still giving me trouble. It's now swollen to more than twice the normal size because I did so much walking instead of riding the ATV more. Not holding a grudge against the Honda Rancher, I just like to still hunt and I see way more deer that way. Hurts like heck today but between you and me it was well worth it. Doctor told me it would be well over a year to heal. Guess maybe I should listen to him and stay off of it till healed. Nahhhhh, Turkey Season opens in April!
