The Optimizer works well - as advertised . It does allow more precise aiming. When you have everything as you want it, I'd consider making  your own range tape, especially if you have a low drag(hi BC) arrow. Energy at long range is not a problem with most arrows/ x-bows. My SF was still over 300'/sec at 100 yds with an arrow that weighed >450gs.

Ellis, I expect we are not all that far apart as it might seem. Please notice that I did say I liked his x-bow more than he does. Also, he weighed the 2 complete set-ups, not me. Yes, the sites have 0.5 lbs difference. I agree that the heavier draw weight would stress the serving more, but my SZ's 160# seems quite adequate with it's 46'/sec advantage with a 500g arrow. Also, I've made a habit of not dry firing my x-bows: they just seem to shoot better with arrows. I've never dry fired a x-bow, maybe I'm missing something. Concerning BT customer service, I've not participated. Fortunately, for me, my dealer (33 miles away) has been able to take care of whatever problems I've had right then and there. These have included 3 sets of limbs for my Parker Saf Mag(175#) over 6 years and well over 5,000 shots. It's a great x-bow. Also replaced my cam bushings on my SF after >2,400 shots. My serving is still great on my SZ 380 after appx  500 shots.
I have a x-bow to hunt. My SZ 380 is faster, smaller, quieter, I think lighter, less recoil, than his Equinox. Oh, and the trigger!  So, for my usage, the SZ serves me better. I guess, if I shot strings, the Equinox would work better.
I understand you allegiance to your nice, recurve x-bow. I feel much the same with my other hunting instrument: a Palmer Whitetail Classic (recurve made by Olympic archery coach - Mike Palmer.
Hope your hunting year is good also: mine 2 lg 8-pts , 1 with MLer, 1 with SZ/ FOC broadhead - DRT, doe with SZ.

Congratulations. Very nice deer! Buffalo River area? Use MMP sabots made there where you live?

I shot a large buck at 38 yds when it was virtually too dark to shoot. 208# field dressed. I hit it high, about 4" from top of deer above the heart. 1 blade of the FOC broke off in a vertabre, not a pass-thru, deer fell dead. Lots of blood. Poor hit but DRT. Maybe if could always hit there, this would be a great hit! I was lucky, it was a little too dark to shoot. The FOC made up for my hit. A 3" cut is a big cut. Red hot arrow out of a SZ 380.
