Can't bait in Adams Co. WI where I do all of my bow hunting. I use corn for gun and muzzleloader over at my farm in Fon Du Lac Co. Wi. I use trails end during the rut or buck bomb.

If I know the pre-rut or rut is on, Tinks #69. Started using the gel last year. Brought in 2 nice 8 pointers along my drag trail last year within 5 minutes of each other. Couldn't get them to stop. Cool to watch, but nice to leave them to get bigger for this year.

Mostly corn at my feeder but I use to use horse and mule feed to stop them while trail watching . Now my son uses acorn rage he says even the foxes we have on our place eat it.

James Valley Scents and my own acorn brew cover scent. A gallon jug, acorns and rain water. Let em' stew for a week or 2, watch out the mice don't fall in.

Oh yea, Alfalfa is also a medicinal plant. It's the only thing that contains the prized vitamin K which is great for arthritis and other ailments. Game ranches feed it to sick or hurt animals.

If you have more than one place to hunt, gather up deer droppings and a bit of rain water to keep them almost liquid.

Keep them separate and take them to the OTHER location as the deer seem to be inquisitive as to the strange poop

Over the years I've tried nearly everything on the market. Some of the stuff may work good one time and then scare the crap out of 'em the next. The problem is, they usually spook when they're out of your sight and many Hunters never know there was even a deer around.

I guess with age I'm beginning to revert back to my old ways. Scout hard, pattern the deer and remain as scent free as I can. I don't use "cover scents" or "lures" much anymore.

I find the deer and set up along their travel routes. I want them to be totally unaware that I'm anywhere around. One minute they're strolling through the woods peacefully and the next minute "THWACK!". It's all over but the cryin'

Of course, the very best buck lure ever created is a HOT Doe! Now that's the kind of deer lure I like

I put out a couple bags of shelled corn and a mineral type salt block. That brings the deer up close to my hunting stand. I don't think you can do this on the public lands or other peoples land, but I do this in my backyard.

To cover my human scent, I inject a apple with pure vanilla, put the apple in the fig for a couple days, then cut it open and wipe the apple over my exposed skin and lightly over my clothing. My grandfather taught me how to do this.

Deer Dander for a calming agent. I have not used anything that has worked as well as this. Kirshners silvertop for the early season. Doe pee I get from a local supplier for the rut. Also, the bucks tarsal gland that I cut off from the previous season. The best of all, Apples! Its a little bit tougher then lugging corn out there, but they seem to prefer them over everything else. It also keeps the does around during the rut, who bring the fellows in tow.
