[Zrt1200]

My boy and I did our first round of scouting today. We walked in the woods for about 2 hours before we seen our first deer and after that seen a few more does and one nice sized Buck!! There is a ton of acorns this year!! More than I have ever seen in 34 years of hunting.

I bet you are excited to know you got a nice buck to hunt in your spot. All those acorns might make it a little tougher to hunt as the deer will be spread out all over and won't have to go far to eat. Still, it is better than not having any which is the way it was here last year. Not one acorn anywhere. I went out the other day and though we are not loaded down with acorns we do have a fairly good crop it seems. All I saw were on chestnut oaks and black/red oaks. There still are none on the white oaks this year.

The day I went out I was on my ATV and my golden retriever pup was following along behind me. We came across a big doe standing about 30 yards off the trail just watching us. I puttered on by and Ben trailing along never saw her. She was still standing there as we topped over the hill out of sight.

Well, glad you got to get out and see some deer. Sounds like you got plenty around to hunt this year. Good luck getting that big boy!
