This combo is a bunch of parts I’ve had around for a while. It’s all Middleton except for the Excal riser. It is the length of a Vixen (13.5” power stroke) but 4” narrower with 32” modified limbs (240#). Custom Martymig string. Custom dipped Shadowbark stock from bbahunter and Wyvern. Pinpoint 1-4x scope I got from Beervo. It’s very quiet, smooth and easy to cock. Light (7#), easy to carry. Shoots about 335 with 400 grain arrows, about as fast as I want with some of the club’s targets. It will split time with Little Franky on the 3D course this summer.

Thanks Randy. We all know there is no best bow ever though.;) The one thing holding all my bows back is that nut pulling the trigger.:D

Your Middleton will turn heads at local shoots! They are unheard of in my neck of the woods! Good thing I held on to 6 or 7!! LOL

Tim, nice to see a post from you. Been a while. I would think the folks around you would know about Middleton with all the ones you have.;) I shot 3D with the 355 SS two summers ago, and nobody much cared.;) Good way to get ready for hunting though.:)

Well, I was able to shoot a bit today. Good thing because our county went into a “no travel” order at 8 pm. Covid cases went from 36 to 65.:( Not sure if we will even have shoots this summer, but the bow is ready. Any misses will be 100% me. The target is 50 yards off the Ready-shot stick with Bloodsports. I’m using moon rather than flat nocks so I can also use these arrows with the Burky RDX bow.

Very good shooting Joe... Looking at the arrows are in the black rings that looks like less than a one inch group..

I get lucky once in a while, Ron.;) The Ready-Shot stick is a very nice and versatile tool, but it's not even as steady as even a field pod, let alone a real bench setup. I still think almost all crossbows can shoot well enough to wreck arrows out to 50, it's just a matter of tune and shooting good arrows. I have been pleasantly surprised by the bloodsports for sure.:D

Well, we shot 15 targets on Tuesday. Best part was my youngest son (temporarily home from NYC) also shot with us. When he said he wanted to shoot, I thought he meant a crossbow, so I got the Excal parts bow together to let him choose between that and my 355 SS. He actually wanted to shoot my ‘01 Bowtech compound bow. Didn’t do all that bad for very little practice. I shot the RDX and did okay. Decided to put the combo at the beginning of the thread back together. Smoother, quieter, and lighter trigger than the parts bow. For more realistic hunting practice, I put my 1-4 Leupold on it as I generally hunt with one of my heavy duplex luepys. Not easy to get a really fine hold at 40 with the bottom duplex and on just 3 power, but it stayed on the dot with the ready shot. Stood up and took an offhand shot at 20. I will carry the recurve in the 94 degree, possible t storm weather coming next Tuesday. See how it goes.

Well, today was pretty cool. I had my best 3D shoot ever. 15 targets, 7 10s and 8 12s. The old frankenbow recurve was laying them in there. Didn't miss the 20.30.40 dots of the RMP or the same points of the TR 525 that I used to shoot with. The heavy duplex Leupy did very well, just like it does for hunting. I guess we all have to use what works for us. Now I have to be honest and say we shot bowhunter stakes, one person ranged targets, so it wasn't the challenge many have with a more difficult sets and shoots. The longest shot was 39 yards, but I got a 12 on that one. My son shot with us, but sadly for the last time. He moves back to "civilization" this weekend. It's been really nice having him around, but especially the fishing and 3D shoots.

Wish they were all like this, our best target from yesterday. Had same number of 12s, but had some 8s too. Gotta work on follow through. ;) Next week I’ll take the RDX (Also “all other brands”- Burky Custom Crossbows) and see how it goes.
