1st Crossbow Kill

I filled my buck tag with a 9 pointer during firearms season that I had seen during early archery season, but I still had an antlerless tag to fill. Tonight, a group got within range, but were spooky and this gal came into an opening and became the first blood for my Carbon Express Piledriver 390 shooting a Spynal Tapp Hunter arrow with a 100 gr Rage Hypodermic on the end.

Crossbow, arrow and broadhead all did a great job. It was about a 30 yard shot, the deer ran/walked about 25 yards, stood a little bit then toppled over and kicked a few times. Total time from the shot to it being still was less than 2 minutes.

Awesome job - congrats.

I love the crossbow season. I hope the law changes in the future so it can be used simultaneously with the vertical bow during archery season.
