Arrow loose on rail

819 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Boo
How tight should the arrow retainer be pushing the arrow against the rail? Is there a spec for distance from rail to retainer? Was having problems with consistent groups and noticed the slop in the arrow on the rail. If I push the arrow down in the rear before every shot the groups tightened up significantly. I assume I need to take the retainer off and bend it to hold arrow tighter? Shooting an Assassin 360.

It should be tight enough to keep your arrow from slipping forward when carrying the bow with an arrow pointed down.
Within reason, the arrow retainer cannot be made to have too much tension. There is no spec. Mine ended up touching the deck. On my Strata I used a medium pair of needle nose without removing the retainer. It's been a while but I think it did it with the trigger unit all the way forward and string off. Don't go for broke the first time. You are on the right track, a loose arrow will take away from accuracy, not to mention causing a semi-dryfire.
