Thank you. Getting back into Excaliburs after a few years, what is the difference in a Flemish string and the string that the bow comes with?
The factory string is made from a single length of strand material wound over 2, 1/4" posts. It's called an "endless loop" or EL string.
The Flemish Twist string is made of usually 26 to 40 (depending on material) or so individual strands twisted together. IMO, the chief advantage of Flemish strings is
#1, ther beautiful
#2, they give a quieter shot
#3, ther more forgivin to limbs
#4, ther stronger at the limb tips
#5, you can make em without a jig
#6, ther handmade, each one an individual work of art.
#7, IMO, they increase pride of ownership.
Once you own one, yer factory string will only see backup duty. Wouldn't consider anythin but a Flemish string on my Excalibur, the one I have on er now been on for 5 seasons.
