Got a primal recurve for Christmas.

So the wife got me the Primal recurve and I can't wait to set it up and hunt. It joins my Specialist and will prob be used by both of us next season. So my question is can I upgrade the trigger? Also for those who have one what do you think. I am already planning to upgrade the trigger and string on the specialist this off season so I thought I'd ask around and see what others have done.

Just got mine yesterday. Shot today out to 40 yds. Really like it. Scope doesn’t even seem that bad. Arrows weigh in around 370 when the specs require 400. Don’t understand that. Had to put the quiver base on before bolting on riser. Directions have it the other way. Trigger is pretty bad. Hard to get consistent. I’ve seen where tx_rdx has a fix. Don’t know if it’s diy or if you have to send the whole bow to him. I’m sure he’ll be available for answers and comments. Congratulations on the new bow!

I took my first deer with mine this year. I upgraded my scope to the CP illuminated scope for $45.

I'm waiting on my second Primal. Building it for my nephew. These are very capable xbows with a little help, far better than the first pile of junk I started with back in the '80s. ;)

The trigger can be improved. The trigger box is not like the ones made by ManKung for the Sniper, Specialist, Spectre, Amped, etc. The solution is different and there's no "kit".

Let me TRY to lay it out here...

In a nutshell you are doing two things:
1. Removing material from the top or bottom trigger levers that shortens their engagement.
2. Removing a coil from the spring that provides back pressure to the trigger.

This is a picture from a fellow forum member describing what he did to shorted the pull on his Tormentor, which has a very similar trigger to the Primal. Both are made by PoeLang so they may in fact be the same.

Either of the trigger "Catch" surfaces (the top or bottom) can be shortened to accomplish a shorter trigger.

This is the Primal trigger box removed from the xbow and taken apart.

The large arrow points to a spring and pin that fit up into the body of the box which provide trigger stop and trigger pressure. If you clip 1 full circle off the spring it will drop pressure to about 3 lbs. I didn't need to change anything with the pin.

The bottom out cover of the trigger box housing is a bit tricky to replace. Notice the angular piece in the oval window between the red and green dots. That's a spring loaded element of the trigger box that has to be slid back and held in place as you reassemble the trigger box.

Back to the package..... I didn't like the scope or arrows so I put a TenPoint ProView 3 on it and bought the newest CenterPoint 20" arrows that they sell at Cabelas which are heaver and better all around. Trigger, scope, arrows, brush retainer and a string reference mark were my mods. After zeroing, it shot well out to 40 yards.

It's been one to remember Harley. All good and a time for reflection and for me, to be tankful. I hope all is good up north!

Sure, reach out if I can help.

Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the responses, especially the pictures. They provide a much needed visual reference that tells me I don't have the tools for the trigger fix. But I plan to have TX_RDXguy do the trigger on my Specialist first anyway.
