Well i just maybe a 75 year old weakling but I am struggling to cock this crossbow. Barnett tells me I need a BAR20030 and the universal won't work as it doesn't have the sled. I can't find one anywhere in fact Barnett doesn't show one on their site. If I though I could modify the universal by butting the sled from my hand cocking rope I would try it. I can get the thing cocked with the rope but the last few inches my hands are up to my chest and I am losing strength. Anyone know where I can get a BAR20030 crank or know if the modification might work?

Some members have shortened the cocking rope.

My advice would be to take or send the crossbow back and request a refund,
explaining that Barnett does not have the required crank system.

Wishing you all the best.
Take care.

Thanks bunnyrabbit the rope came as short as it can be. I just need to grow taller till I can locate a crank. I don't want to send it back I like the way it shoots and probably won't use it that often. I been shoot a bow since i was 10. 65 years ago. I had haven't shot in a long time and am surprised at the amount of strength I have lost.

The sell that crank on eBay. That CCD setup design, in my opinion for that Xbow is one of the better designs for Barnett Xbows. The rope is closer to alignment angle to the shooting rail. I've seen that CCD as lows a $108-$125. It's my most preferred flight rail stock from Barnett. Good luck!

There are a lot of the Universal CCDs PN BAR20020 but my bow requires the BAR20030 that uses the sled not the two separate hooks. I am going to look at the parts manuals for the 20020 and 20030 and see if it looks possible to mod the 20020 using my sled I have. Thanks for the reply.

Just downloaded the parts list for the Bar200020 Universal CCD and the BAR20030 needed for my bow. The only difference is the Sled and the Sled hook holder. I have the sled but can't find the hook holder pn BAR730189. I may try to 3D print one if I can draw something on Fusion 3D.

Yes that uses the two separate hooks there the Hyper Whitetail 410 crossbow uses what they call a sled where the two hooks are mounted on a plate that slides up the rails. The only difference of the two is the sled and the piece to hook the sled into to store the sled. All other part numbers are the same. The problem is the CCD for the 410 is not available anywhere. I am starting not to like this crossbow as the bolts where available at around $17 each and nocks and inserts for the .204 dia bolts are hard to find. I will say it really shoots hard and fast.

Apologies for posting on this old thread.. But I also have a Hyper Whitetail 410 and the BAR20030 crank kit is still not available. I’d like to follow up whether replacing standard hooks with sled as discussed above is a good option. Thank you.

hello i have been changing out the sled for over 5 years. just cut the knot off and thread your rope cocking sled on the crank. any one that will fit. make shure your new knot is large enough that it doesent slip. the string will ride in the rope cocking groove. i hang the sled on the scope or scope rail if there is enough room.

This turned out to be a very easy fix. I’d like to thank everyone for that who had input in this thread.

I bought a “used” Barnett hook-type crank kit BAR20020 for $50 from Amazon, I bought a generic sled-type rope cocker for $17, and I moved the sled from rope cocker to the crank. I then installed the crank per Barnett instructions with plenty of lube on the crank bushing. And it turns out my sled fits nicely between scope and rail, so it’s got a good resting spot against my front scope ring.

Everything fit together very well with no excessive clearances and the “clicks” on the crank were very quiet. I honestly don’t understand why some reviewers complain about sloppy clearances or loud crank sounds - maybe Barnett already fixed those problems and got their act together.

I’m good to go and I’m pleased so far.
Frank
