Since you already have an Excal... I have hunted with both the Hickory Creek Mini and Excal Micro and I am a saddle hunter. The Hickory Creek really is the perfect little bow for saddle hunting! You can stay close to the tree because the bow is vertical and even with the scope, the Mini is a super light bow.

Love my inline vertical. Hand cock and decock. Smaller than any compound bow I've ever had with more power by about 50 pounds of Ke than any compound bow I 've had in 15 years. at about $800 set up and ready to hunt, it is tough to beat.
This was a great hunt done by the Field Archer with the Mini Vertical Crossbow!
How is the warranty service on the Hickory Creek?
For saddle hunting I would definitely go with the Hickory Creek.
