Jerry i wonder with all this super serving and new materials ,soon we will be eating into the barrel finish .
Might take a few shots , but i bet it will happen ,LOL.
Super serving? I dont know what that is.
The scorpyd tester puts 10s of thousands of shots on some of the test bows he shoots and so far he hasn't seen any issues. The new material I am wanting to try is considered extremely abrasive resistant so from a logical point of view if its abrasive resistant I doubt it would be abrasive itself but time will tell.
I am a firm believer in not claiming what you don't want! So I will wait for a failure then address it if it ever happens, which I doubt, If folks will simply service their bows properly like they would an expensive rifle.
Is there going to be that odd man out that is a lemon from the get go, absolutely. I worked for a telephone company for 30 years and it was not unexpected when we would take new phones out of the box that didn't work. But the lions share did just fine.
Tim you can put any product you want under a microscope and find minor issues. Most of the time those issues do not interfere with the quality, accuracy, operation of the item.
As far as bows go, no limbs are exactly the same poundage but they can be made to shoot as if they are. I doubt any bow is dead nuts exactly the specs they should be ie square, plumb etc
Even arrows like my tapps are not perfect, you can see subtle differences in ID and OD yet they can be made to fly like darts. This is why I test, cull, index, weight match and spine match every arrow we sell. I have people that do most of the work but every arrow is weight matched by me because I want them looked at before they leave the office so every arrow is in my hands before they go in a box to ship.
I am as anal as the next guy fact is I sometimes think I am at the top of the list. I made a post on AT one time asking folks to try to see if they were more anal than I am.
So I posted an example, If I take a paper towel off a the roll and the corner tears my first thought is to throw it away and get another towel. But I dont that would be stupid and wasteful.
So what I try to do is be controlled anal.
If something is not perfect yet it works properly, is safe and wont likely break from the imperfection I tend to leave it alone and move on.
I have loved a phrase for as long as I can remember, "If it aint broke dont fix it"
