Increase FOC with a Set Screw

I'm looking to increase my FOC. According to the Gold Tip FOC calculator I'm at 14.7%, I'd like to increase to around 17%. Yes, I'm using 100gr broadheads (Swhacker greens) and I'd like to stick with them as opposed to switching to 125gr since I can find these cheap on clearence at the end of every season.

My arrow setup is 20" zombie slayers with 110gr brass inserts, vanetec 3.15" vanes offset at 1.5 degree, and lighted alpha nocks. I'm shooting a Tenpoint Shadow NXT and with the 450gr total arrow weight, I chrono around 380 fps.

I know weights are available that thread into the back of the insert, but I don't want to point out all the aplha nock receivers. So my question is, has anyone used stainless steel set screws to screw into the insert? I bought a few lengths to check weights and they are surprisingly consistent. 8-32 3/8" is 10gr. So I figure a 1" screw should be about 26gr and 1.25" at 33gr. I've already checked and there is more than enough space to thread the screw in far enough and still get the broadhead in. Of course I would use blue loctite to ensure they don't move. With and additional 33gr, I should be right at 17% FOC.

Any cons or reasons not to go this route?

Do your arrows shoot bad or inconsistent now?

Not particularly. However I just got this bow and new set of arrows toward the end of season and I like tinkering and experimenting. That being said, I havnt seen anybody talk about doing this. Seems pretty strait forward and can take them out easy enough. Just looking for opinions of this idea.
Add them in and see what your results are to what you have now....nothing gained but knowledge. Report back, could be interesting. Tinkering is fun....but if your just chasing a 17% number it could drive you crazy...:)

Interesting....what's the weight of those lighted Alphas?

I weighed one set at 32 grains including the receiver, nock and light stick.
Thanks. I'm just trying to decide on lighted nocks to try....and the Glory nocks seem to be really light weight. I can only find the weight for them on their vert bow models, at just 20-22 gr. So if the Xbow models are the same, that might save ya the 'screw'n around'! LOL! Just more ideas for ya, man! :D

Thanks! However Tenpoint requires the Alpha nock to not void their warranty.
Ah yes.... sounds like the 'screw'n around' thingy would be worth a try. Good think'n, man!
