Not what I thought.

Well, I am a new member that has been on here for, maybe, six weeks. In that time I have read several threads from stick bow hunters wanting to banish compound bows from "their" sport. And crossbows? Hah!! They were shifted into the same category as rifles!! So, after reading enough of that CRAP, I decided to go to my brand-specific site and be "comforted and relieved" to find members with MAYBE the same love of crossbows and crossbow hunting. Instead, what do I read? Mostly, members that are NOT owners of the same name-brand Xbow as me. Eight out of ten comments were, either, disparaging the brand or my lack of knowledge for buying it. Making me feel like a Neanderthal because I didn't spend AT LEAST, $1,000 to $2,000 on it. Here's a secret. Out to 50 yds. I'll put my $600 Xbow against your $2,000 Xbow, ANY DAY. Anything beyond that is unethical in a hunting situation, IMO. And when there is disagreement, everyone is so polite and condescending to each other, it truly makes me nauseous. Let me tell you, you can dis my possessions all you want. But when you start to question my IQ I am going to get on my soap box and I am going to RANT AND RAVE!! It would only be a matter of time before I was removed for my form of disagreement, anyway. So.............I QUIT!! With PLENTY of hard feelings.

Are you basing your thoughts concerning CBN on the one thread advocating the need for regulations?

I’m an avid vertical recurve shooter/hunter AND an avid crossbow and muzzleloader shooter/hunter. Live and let live. Incidentally, fortunately with basically no financial constraints on crossbow purchases, I hunt with a couple year old $600 crossbow.

There’s a wide diversity of opinion on the crossbows’ place in archery. I strongly disagree with some of the thoughts and opinions. I try to ignore these even when they publically state that what I do is unethical for ANYONE to do. Leaving it as “their problem” is better than my internalizing it.

As long as I’m comfortable with what I buy , the ranges that I shoot, etc, I’m just not going to let other people’s judgements, opinions, etc, affect me. I’m not trying to “relive” the old days by forcing recurve/longbow ranges onto my crossbow. Nor am I going to limit myself by other people’s self imposed restrictions and their decreed ethics for the rest of the world.

Well I am sorry for the regulations thread if I hurt your feelings. I have grown a pretty thick skin being over at Bowsite. com in the Wi. forum. I have called and have been called everything under the sun for backing the use of crossbows during the archery season and this is really very polite over here. I don't think that the OP of this thread understood my position on the matter. I will wait till wi. crossbowers get kicked out of the gun season and see if anyone remembers the Regulation thread then.

The whole problem is the rabid vertical bow people that are totally against crossbows and crossbow hunting don't really want them moved to a rifle season. That is only a first step. They want them banned totally for anyone that is not totally disabled and unable to use a vertical bow. You will never argue them out of their beliefs. Only older age and having to quit deer hunting will eventually make them see the light.

I have found it much easier to be THANKFUL for what I have and not pay attention to those that massage their egos with continuous useless commentary.

"It is not best that all men think alike. It is difference of opinion that makes horse races." Mark Twain.
Besides, my bow is cheaper, older, dirtier, drabber, and more exciting than yours; especially when a string breaks.

My blind is my "safe place"; (except when a string breaks.) You can't come in.:p:D:D;):)

Well said!!

The worst thing you can do is to succumb to hearsay or pass along hearsay!! Resist the temptation to rip someone a new one or respond in kind to someone ripping you a new one.
