Can anyone explain to me why NY has such a ridiculous rule regarding an uncocked crossbow?
It's becoming harder and harder to find a crossbow that meets that regulation........

Because all those DA liberals in that giant cesspool city make all the rules for and, steal all the $ from "The Beautiful" parts of NY.
Yea that's how I see it.

That's a good enough answer for me !
This is one of the reasons I went with the death stalker. Just because I live in one of the beautiful places in Ny.

Stupid law. Ideally it's overturned soon, else I'll just have to protest with civil disobedience.

Likewise. I doubt it will change much, but it'd be nice. NY likes to write a bunch of pointless, toothless laws, but none of them ever hold up in court. Look at the first SAFE act convictions, they went nowhere unless attached to an actual crime of some sort.

Doesn't answer my question! What is the reasoning for the 17 inch restriction.
The only answer I've ever got from anyone I've ever asked is: so you can't put it out a car window ????

I own a Tenpoint Titan RCX which is legal......
I shot a deathstalker and just wasn't a fan. I don't remember what it was about it, but liked the sub-1 and tenpoints more.

It's just NY playing games and limiting the choices of civilians. Just a way to remind you that they think they're in control. Albany is full of clowns.

This is the only reason I have ever heard also. I can almost fit 2 uncocked death stalkers out my truck window if I wanted. It's all bs. Like the max #200 limbs.

Can't imagine why they would have a regulation like that.

There probably isn't a reasonable explanation. Remember you're talking about politicans that don't have a clue when it comes to this issue.

Look at it this way. Politicians call magazines with more than 10 rounds "high capacity ". WHY, because there's no real reason. They are uneducated when it comes to certain issues and this is one of them.

Of course it's all BS. That is NY in a nutshell... and why I moved out long ago.

I live in NY and I am having the same issue. Making it tough finding a new bow.

From what I understand when they allowed crossbows they just took a very old set of rules and adopted them.

This is what happens in a state where politicians make laws in areas they know nothing about. It's how we get our idiotic gun laws that only restrict law abiding gun owners.

From what I understand we also have a very strong segment of bow hunters that do not want crossbow hunters in the woods with them and fight tooth and nail keeping crossbows out of the archery season telling legislators what an effective poaching tool the crossbow is. Here again.,,poachers are poachers and are already not following the law. It's sad we have hunters working against hunters.

Well said! The vertical bowhunters in NY have a strong lobby against crossbows!

I have to laugh at the poaching issue! I live close to the Canadian border. Baiting( although illegal) and poaching(without a crossbow) goes on all the time up here! There is 1 game warden assigned to one huge area. Tough to enforce any laws........

Yup and allowing crossbows aren't going to change that. If you are poaching with a crossbow, you are doing it now, regardless of the laws.
