I chrono'd some different arrow weights today in the rain:ack2:

Gold Tip 365 grains - 264 fps
Gold Tip 405 grians - 254 fps
Easton 2219 445 grains - 251 fps
Easton Power Bolt 480 grains - 244 fps

For comparison, I shot the same arrows out of my Vortex:

Gold Tip 365 grains - 317 fps
Gold Tip 405 grians - 310 fps
Easton 2219 445 grains - 300 fps
Easton Power Bolt 480 grains - 293 fps

The above numbers for the Vortex are consistent with what I found when testing last October. Some of the comparison numbers don't make sense to me but that's what I got.

Here's what I got
Both bows - 44 strand Boo string w/5" serving, one set of cat whiskers, STS,
Phoenix (forward riser)
395 gr Gold Tip 286 ft/sec
456 Carbon Express 278 ft/sec

Vortex
395 gr Gold Tip 318 ft/sec
456 gr Carbon Express 301 ft/sec

I wonder if speed are much different for different Chronys and different days.

May be but

I'm getting 349 fps on my Desert Stryker and 340 fps on my Phantom, using the same chrono when shooting factory arrows so they are pretty much in line with factory numbers. I'll shoot some more in the next day or two because there is a wide difference in what you and I found on the Excals. I'll also pick up another chrono unit to compare.

I am using Xcel but don't any information on dimensions yet. I don't know if the curve and flex use the same strings but I have a flex coming soon. When I get the bow I will report on speeds etc
I designed and made a jig for stretching and serving. I stretch them for a while before serving. It also helps in string making.

Got some Carbon Express Maxima Hunters with a 145 gr tip it weights out at 456 gr. Shot out of the same 2 set ups.
Phoenix 278 ft/sec
Vortex 301 ft/sec

I'll edit my earlier post to make more sense of this stuff.
