I tested some last year and here is what I found.
Pack of 3 regular xbow not mega meats, I messed with the first one unlocking a blade or 2 then locking in back in.
That one ended up being a flyer so to me there is a trick getting blades locked into position properly.
the ones I never touched flew perfectly with field points out to 60 yards. No hunting experience though but have heard decent results.
Also, for me the practice head did not fly with real broadheads, good news is the real broadheads were spot on with field points

How did you test it? Did you shoot the broadhead into a target?

Yes, 60 yards into broadhead target.
I tested quite a few last summer.
The ones out of the box ( that i did not mess with :)) flew perfect.
The one I messed with flew 5" right and 6" low if I recall and on the target you could see 1 blade open at impact due to me not clipping it back on properly.

Yeah, you need to make sure that they are pushed forward all the way before clipping them into the retainer. It's not too hard to get that "click" feel and not have them locked completely forward and in the retainer. For what it's worth I tried the Dead Meats before the Mega Meat and wasn't nearly as impressed with the wound channels. Sure seems like more than half inch cutting diameter between them!

I was wondering of the deer you shot were they with MegaMeat or the DeadMeat and if you had any bone encounters.
An archery tech local said he hit a doe in the shoulder last year with the smaller Deadmeat and it blew through both shoulders, R29x at 450fps at 40 yards.

Only ribs on a few and front of ribcage (brisket) on one sharply quartering away shot. No damage on those. Sorry it took me a while to respond...Was vacationing in the OBX.

Nice, thanks for the info.
Like the truck, got a prius with 400k and an avalon hybrid myself..
Hey Fishbones, I did have one pass through 2 sets of ribs and bury in this log. Tried to dig it out with my knife but it was too deep. I managed to dig it out my next hunt, and to my amazement there was no damage including the blades.

Same here, just killed a nice 10 point on the 14th, first kill with Megameat, good holes in and out and no deflection but it was slightly quartering away.
50 Yards full run to drop dead, double lung. not best pics but a big pile of hair on the exit side at point of shot.

Beautiful buck, great shot...X2! Way to go, guys! Hope you both are as impressed with the Mega Meats as I am!
Yes Sir! it will be in my quiver next year, tagged out this year.
For first time users some advice.
Check all blades for positive lock click, slightly pull up to make sure they dont pop out easy.
I had 1 that would not stay clipped well, swapped a couple different collars and same deal, I think its a bad blade (not thick enough to lock in good).
I test them each time I load one in the crossbow just to make sure each blade is clipped good.

Shoots like field points, massive holes in and out, so far I am sold.

I did have blade pre-deployment out of my TP Siege RS. These were the crossbow models. I put a small dab of glue on the collars where they connect to the blades. Problem solved!
