I used them for part of a season. I liked the practice head that you could buy separately. I had confidence they would shoot like the actual broadhead. But I stopped using them when the blades would come loose from the clips just sitting in my quiver which I absolutely babied. Never dropped or anything. Also I know they make replacement clips, but the fact that they clips seemed loose just sitting in my quiver was enough for me to not trust them in the field. I now shoot the sevr 2.0 from my crossbow and Iron Will Wides out of my vertical bow.

I had a buddy said he had one that fail also but that’s just here say I personally don’t have any experience with them
I shot the MM 2 years ago out of a Mag 340 without any problems. Arrow flight was great and blood trails were better. When I switched to the Siege is when I started to have problems. I believe the much faster crossbows will cause the blades to open is my experience. After gluing them arrow flight was perfect.

What type of glue and how much? Makes sense, I have some but haven’t shot them yet. I did notice that one was not as a tight fit as the others.

Any fletching glue will work. I used the blue cap gorilla glue and put a tiny dab on the red collar where the blades snap in.
That’s glue sounds like it works great but a person shouldn’t have to do that they need to fix that or label how many FPS there good for where luck to be on this website and here about these things but not everyone that shoots a Xbow is

Absolutely no doubt you are correct... But after shooting these heads the year before and seeing the devastation of them I was bound and determined to make them work.

Wow! I think I'm on my 10th pack and haven't had an issue. But I'm only shooting in the 370fps range. A drop of crazy glue or fingernail polish sounds like a great insurance policy though. I used to glue blades down to make practice heads back in my compound days. With nail polish I could soak them in thinner or polish remover to free up the blades.

Just to clarify, did you put a dab of glue on the collar and then close the blade in, or did you have the blades snapped in and then added a dab to the outside? I just picked up a pack and might consider doing this as an insurance policy.

I tested some last year and here is what I found.
Pack of 3 regular xbow not mega meats, I messed with the first one unlocking a blade or 2 then locking in back in.
That one ended up being a flyer so to me there is a trick getting blades locked into position properly.
the ones I never touched flew perfectly with field points out to 60 yards. No hunting experience though but have heard decent results.
Also, for me the practice head did not fly with real broadheads, good news is the real broadheads were spot on with field points
I know this was a while ago, but your practice head never flew like any of the regular heads? Based on your experience, did they come out of a broadhead target okay? I have a Rinehart 18-1 target and would like to shoot the real broadheads to confirm they’re on target once I get a chance.

Has anyone else had any experience with the practice heads?

I have shot mine into a 18 and 1 and a SEVR foam target. They pull out like all other mechanical. I always burn one broadhead and use it to sight in and to continue to check zero as I hunt. Fixed and mechanical

I shot the practice heads out to either 50 or 60 yards. They were less than 2 inches from field point poi. Actual broadheads I've only shot to 30. They flew true, and either protruded out the back of my block target or were close enough to push them on through and unscrew from back side. Then pulled the arrows back out the front. Just don't shoot the practice heads into a bag target! Made that mistake once...ONCE!

So you shoot your practice heads into a broadhead target? What happened with the bag target?

Yes, shoot them into a broadhead target. The wings of the practice head were bound in the rags in the target. After several minutes trying to work it out I ended up pulling the insert out of the arrow.
Yikes! That’s wild. Did your practice heads look like this? This is what I received. It doesn’t really seem to have “wings,” to me.
