Looking to buy a first crossbow. Can buy a 6 month old Scorpyd Nemesis 480 with AD Pro crank, 12 Spynal Tapp arrows, rope cocker, extra custom soft case. Hand crank, limbsaver sling, Hawke Pro scope all in mint condition with less than 50 shots. Other option is new Ravin R10 package for$100 more(plus tax another 90). what are your opinions. I know the Nemesis is in perfect shape and has top of the line equipment all around. Which would you buy?

If I had to make that choice I would be buying the Nemesis. That is a heck of a deal.
Yes I think so too. By going to the website and building a package with same components its $2285. Then there's custom string($65), rope cocker($45), 33 new Q no nocks, limbsaver sling, soft case, 12 Spynal Taopp arrows.
Nemesis ...
Just remember the used doesn’t have a warranty and the new bow does. If that matters to you? Good luck!

Yes that’s the only advantage with the Ravin. But the savings would be 7-800 dollars.

You can do alot of you own work for that much.

I’d go Nemesis, especially since the Ravin is only an R10 and two year old technology vs R20 or R29. I have an R15 that is going nowhere as my backup & I really like it but I bought a new Nemesis and it gives me so much more KE while shooting heavier arrows for western hunting. I doubt whether the warranty would be an issue as the Scorpyd’s are built like a tank.

Nemesis! That's got to be the first one I've heard of for sale.......used anyway! Besides that, you could sell it fast if you ever decide to.

Agreed … I have two old Scorpyds that have killed a boatload of deer in the rain, snow, mud, blood & corruption, and have performed flawlessly; and with nearly zero maintenance. World class quality coupled to world class performance. "It don't git no bedder den dat."

IMHO the R10 is the best Ravin but the Nemesis is a better built bow.

I can choose to sell any crossbows i want fact is I will be adding a ton of manufactures in 2020 but scorpyd will always be my pick.

If you watch and listen you will see that the more powerful Ravins have a lot of issues with strings, blowing up etc. IMHO those faster bows are built too close to their maximum ability.

Over the last year I have heard of a dozen or more R20, R26 and R29 risers just letting go hanging on a tree in a stand. I bet Ravins are at 95% or higher of what the bows parts are designed to handle.

Scorpyds are setup to about 80% of what it is capable of handling. They have their problems like every other company to work through but they are the best made bow on the market.

And with all fairness to ravin the roll out of the nemesis has not been the best, they have had issues with the AD crank and extremely fast serving wear on the center serving. Those issues have and are being addressed

Over the last 6+ years I have sold scorpyd bows when a bow rolls out that has issues they fix it then you dont hear of those issues any longer.

lots of issues with the Nemesis. 50 shots maybe on string is totally un except able.

I will not own a bow that i can not set up tune and shoot through the season on set of strings.

The Ravins not much better ,but the r10 when set up correctly will easily go 400 shots or more .

no one can can come on here and claim 400 shots on Nemesis with out lying.

sanding the claws down, shimmimg limbs.......you got to be kidding me.

All that to get a bow that will be 18 f.p.s faster then a slow Ravin R20.

Having said that...I still want a Nemesis, but its not there yet.

Just the bringer of truth here.

True but as I stated it has been addressed.

Right now I know for a fact a guy that tests for scorpyd is getting 400 to 500 shots on strings

Myself and Marty are having some good success with serving

I will be sending some test strings to be tested by scorpyds tester in a few days. I have no doubt the shot count will be upwards of 800 to a 1000 shots soon

i will definitely get a Nemesis when the shot count goes up. I been sitting on 1200.00 bucks for that last 19 months.
Maybe this new year will be it.
I figure 500 shots in more then enough to get through a season of testing broadheads and practice.

I just talked to a well known dealer that sells a boat load of them all and what he’s telling me is contrary to what I’m reading here. I’ll leave it at that, except judging from my 9 months of trouble free experience with my Ravin R26, I believe what he tells me.

I have both the R10 and Nemesis, they both are great bows, but I always take the Nemesis when I go hunting.
I will probably sell my Ravin and get a death stalker for back up bow.
