I have a tripod but it's for a Polaroid camera. The mount that's on it won't hold my bow. It's just this flat panel with a clip on it just big enough to hold a camera. Im wondering if ther a way to modify it.

That Vanguard looks pretty slick!!!

I made this DIY rest outta PVC pipe and felt, to mount onto my spotting scope tripod. Got the design from Soldiers in Iraq....They can't always use the short bipods they're given. These are light weight for backpack hunts too, where I always have my tripod anyway. But for really reaching out, I still find it much better to get prone....

But for my xbow, I use a Stoney Point compact bipod.

Marty,
I glued one of these on top of my camera tripod with Goop adhesive. Works great.

Good idea but this way it will save me the aggravation of hunting around my back room/storage for materials. I know where my Gorilla Glue is and I can wait a few days for that rubber V rest. But, thank you!

Looks similar to how I made a couple knee pods. Cut up a 4” PVC coupling - works great.

I'm a backpacker, so I cut out weight where I can, Marty....I looked at those rubber Vs....My plastic pipe thingy has a quick connect on it also, so I can pop it on fast once I wipp off my spotter.....!

Scorpyd has them for ~$40. Mounts to the bow and has quick disconnect to the tri-pod.

Once installed leave it outside until the rubber smell is gone.

I use mine in my Ground Blinds.

I use an old telescoping paint roller stick with a round Boat Bow Stop to support the rear of the stock. It works great as well.

Those are huge - actually they’re intended for the “bow” of a boat, not a hunting bow or crossbow, but I suppose it will work.

I have one of those, but there was a tad interference with my Ventilator but I used some spacers and longer screws to make it work.

Had with my short tripod plus an extension arm for additional support. I didn’t like it.

Works well. I leave my Tripod in the ground blind so I don't pack it around. The 4 inch is just right for my Excalibur Exomax stock which has a fairly wide foregrip. I like how it supports the crossbow in the Vee so it doesn't move.

For the rear of the stock I use a round boat bow stop with a paint roller telescoping stick. The roller end of the stick is threaded so I drilled a hole in the center of the boat bow stop and threaded it onto the stick with some Goop applied to the threads. Makes a solid connection. With this set up I just mount the crossbow and sit back waiting for the deer. Nice not having to pick up the crossbow and position it when a deer shows up.

Went this route because I leave them in the blind all season long and have two blinds set up.

How do you attach the bottom to whatever you attach it too?

I glue it to the top of old camera tripods. Buy them at Garage and Estate sales cheap. Some are very sturdy.

I have one and it is the shooting aid I go to most often .
I use my Tenpoint Stealth SS on it and it is very steady .
In my blind the bow forearm rests on the yoke and the butt plate is tucked into my knee / gut
Easy to leave in this position for extended periods
Certainly lighter and takes up far less space than my Caldwell Fieldpod
The swivel just above the base makes it easy to swing to keep on target while keeping all 3 legs on the ground
Im also blessed that Vangard is just down the road if I ever needed help with anything

Do all crossbows kick down when you shoot? My Ripper 415 seemed to drop even more in the cold this week when hunting, still shot my deer though.
I'd rather free hand shoot than carry a stand, I know this will take lots of practise to overcome. Any advice??

Not at all ! My Scorpyd DS kicks up.....its reverse everything though. The CP Sniper 370 being slightly nose heavy would drop after the shot and the TP Titan SS I had was just right, no up no down, just a nice solid shot. Wish I would've kept it now for that reason alone but, it was a slow poke. I sold it to fund my Nemesis purchase which I havn't shot in so long I can't remember what it's like, maybe thats a good thing though but, this isn't the place to go into all of that ! ....lol
