Been looking at the shwacker swh00231 125 grain 2.25 cut for my centerpoint heat 425. what's everyone's take on these broadheads? My biggest fear is opening before impact. Anyone use these? If so how have you're experience's went with these?

I have the 100 grain Swackers and if you are using the bands they provide they will not open in flight. If I was worried I would just add a dental band also as extra insurance.

no fear about opening in flight with fresh heat shrink bands. just replace the bands occasionally, once a year for me, and if you're still concerned just use two. you can cut your own from heat shrink tubing you can buy at any auto parts store that work equally as well as the ones that come with them.

Hunter's are always looking for the "silver bullet" broadhead. I have used swackers for about 15 years or more with definitely over a hundred kills. I have not had a problem with the broadhead doing it's job. Many times I'll be able to reuse the broadhead several times. Occasionally sharpening or changing the blades. They aren't "the best money can buy", but they're the best buy for my money. There are many quality broadhead available as there are with crossbows.

I have the 150gr 3" cut. I killed gobblers with them but not any deer, just because i used the FOC broadhead. I plan to use them out of the BD 360 this fall for deer.

I tested them a lot before hunting with them. I never had one open in flight or fail to open on/in whatever i shot them into. One huge plus imo is they don't open until there in the deer. Saving the sharpness of the blades until there in the boiler room plus still giving a left bevel 1" 2 blade cut. They are very accurate and fly super.

It is possible if you hit something hard going in. The nose can bend and fowl the blades. It took a white oak board for me to get this to happen. I'll add in 45 years of bowhunting i have never hit a big bone going in. With well over a 100 deer under my belt.

You can use heat shrink (don't heat it just cut and slip it over) from the hardware store and it works fine. I just bought enough for a lifetime of the white shrinkwrap for mine.

I don't know if Swhacker still does this or not. And this info is on there Q&A page and i called them. Some of the heads have oil on them from the factory. This will cause the Heat shrink band to fail. Simple fix just to be safe clean the heads and replace the bands that come on the heads from the factory.

Best i can recall that's the good bad and ugly LOL.

Look at the Levi Morgan #269 before you buy. I might switch :). You can lock the blades closed so you can shot every arrow with the exact head you will be hunting. Plus they make i guess its rubber or something that you put in the same hole used to lock it closed. And if i understood right it replaces the need for the band.

Check them out 2.5" cut too and they make smaller cutting too.

I have used scwackers for yrs, fly great, leave huge holes, great blood trails, never an issue. I switched this yr to the #200, in 125 gr. It's a 2" cut with the lockable blades as mentioned, so you sight your bow in with your hunting head.

When I shot the 2" Swhackers I used a dental band for added insurance. That little band certainly wont stop the head from opening upon contact. get on Ebay and order you a pack of 3/16" med/heavy bands. No more concerns.;):)
