Clatu, the Swat is a great Xbow. It is a little different than your regular railed Xbow
To answer your questions you load the arrow down the barrel and it will stop at the load lever which is located on top of the butt stock. Holding the bow with the front in an elevated position push the load lever foward and the arrow will slide down to meet the string then let go of the lever. When loaded there is about 3/8" of shaft and insert sticking out past the end of the barrel so unless you are trying to use a B/head that the blades extend way rearward of the ferrule you won't have any problems. Yes it uses flat nocks and as long as you don't touch the load lever with the bow pointed downward the arrow will stay in place.
Hopefully OLDFLIER or SEW will add to what I have said.

The load lever on the top of the stock, almost at the buttplate , is a bit high. It can be bumped which will allow the arrow to slide out. Been there, done that a few times. Pain in the neck!!

The answer is to grind it down to slightly below the stock level. There is a well thought out recessed grove that it operates in that still allows easy access for actuation even when it is reduced to slightly below the stock comb level.

This is an extremely easy fix just like the pivot bolts were on the bows that had a problem. I still believe that the SWAT has been the best crossbow ever made, based on now 34 years of avid crossbow usage. My other two crossbows are outstanding: BD400 and Aculeus 460. The SWAT is my preference. However, when the SWAT XP arrives, the SWAT will become second best.

Darby13,
If I really just had to have it, I could actually pay >$3,000 for a crossbow. I have spent considerable time with last year’s latest and greatest, the NitroXRT, now greatly surpassed by its younger, latest and greatest sibling. Also have held and shot the Nemesis, the Sub-1s, etc. However, if I could only have 1 current or past crossbow to keep and use , it’d be the SWAT. That’s just how good the original SWAT is!
The XP, has had more testing, is shorter and narrower, is lighter, has a detachable crank and is 30’/sec faster. To me, it will be the most desirable crossbow of 2020. SWAT owners are not as prone to just “have to have”
the latest as the current SWAT is just so good.
No trigger was as good as the SWAR’s, no crossbow was more accurate, no other crossbow could shoot a variety of the same weight broad heads and hit almost exactly the same place - mix and match within the same quiver.
Yes, you’ll like the new SWAT, but you have no choice but to wait.:)

Aaaand, the Swat trig at 2.5 lbs !!!! The Swat XP just a bit more at 3lbs. Pretty light...

Aaaand, the covered rail....just read a story of a dude that lost a good shot on a big buck because his open rail was covered in snow and ice! His arrow hit waay low!....When my dream bucks steps out, I sure wouldn't want that to happen!

Just a couple more reasons!.... :D

Pre-ordering tomorrow.

Besides the fact the SWAT I have is great, I love the fact they are located less the 30 minutes from me. Their "sister"/"brother" company also churns out some very fine products.

As soon as the new one comes in, my son gets the other. Win win.!

I talked to a local shop guy that said he'd have paperwork from KI by today. Had plans to get there until my boss called a late meeting. Will see what he's got for information this week sometime, he said I could preorder so I assume he's in the know. Hope so.

Zakker, let me know what the story is on the shops preorder status. If he is taking orders and what the cost is,would be great info and i would call him to place my order!! Getting on their order list would be great as i think KI will be selling a lot of swats this summer.
