Hey guys,
My Swat X1 string broke with less than 12 shots. Broke at the left cam loop. No dry fire or partial df.
Anybody replaced one? What did you use?
BTW has anyone noticed the two areas of bare string

left and right of center which are not served? Is there a reason? See photos .

Sorry that happened to you. The unserved places are to allow some twisting/adjustment, I would think. I had an excellent string/cable set made by @Perry24 .

Thank you Jeff. I have used Dave (Perry 24) I'll give him a shout.
Your assessment of the bare string spaces makes sense. Probably couldn't adjust much with all the string being served.

Ah man I think we just ordered this xbow... now I'm scared..lol
Don't be worried.
Alot of guys have gotten hundreds and hundreds of shots.....
These things happen, and no big deal for me to swap it out with my press.

Contact KI, they will replace yer string an any related issues. Check for burs or sharp edges, never saw one o ther strings do that without a cause.

Yep, there is always a cause. Identifying it can sometimes be problematic
Ordering one from Perry 24.

Is Perry 24 strings the best strings for these? Only curious because I may end up needing one as well

The bowstring and cables should have some unserved areas. This allows for adjustment
whether one adds or removes 1/2 or full twists.
Recently I received cables for a crossbow that were fully served. The only small adjustment
I could make was at the "Y" end of the cables. Some times even when adjusting the cables,
one has to make fine adjustments at the "Y" end to level the cams.

Any part of the bowstring or cables that is served, one can not make any adjustment.

Wishing you all the best with your crossbow repair.
Take care.

Ol' SEW has thousands of shots on two Swat strings IIRC.

How did it break? On the shot? Cocked and sitting? Uncocked and just broke on it's own?
Was there any damage other than the string breaking?
My Ravin R20 was cocked and laying beside me on the ground when a cable broke and it busted the metal riser holding the left limb. The limb itself was not hurt.

Hi Robert,
It broke during the shot
I'm going to closely examine the cam peg for any sharp edge. Looks like a clean cut to me. The arrow quite surprisingly hit the poa.

Don't be scared. To be honest, a broken string can happen on any crossbow made by any manufacturer. It isn't overly common, but it does happen. The best course is to just do a nice inspection to make sure the crossbow doesn't have any issues, then put on another string and go shoot.

That was the best thing that could have happened as all the energy was absorbed by the arrow and limbs normally. Run your finger tip around the edge of the cams also. I think that Sew have to do a little filing on one of his.
