Tactacam FTS attachment

I have seen the comments here dealing with the Tactacam FTS system on crossbow scopes. The short eye relief on the crossbow scopes seems to cause problems with this attachment. Has anyone used the Tactacam FTS attachment recently on a TenPoint or an equivalent scope? Thanks in advance for your input.

I don’t think it’s the short eye relief on the crossbow scopes - but rather it takes away one inch of eye relief.

I would assume if you used a 1” forward extended scope mount, then the 1” the FTS takes away would be the same as without the FTS.

I could move the forward mounts up an inch on 2 of my crossbows to use the FTS, but then I’m hostage to having to use it even for target practice because the scope is an 1” too far away.

I really wanted to get an FTS but not sure I’d like it now. I have enough crap on my crossbows as it it!

I appreciate it. Now I understand. That makes total sense to me. I have aftermarket lock tab scope rings on all my TenPoints and could move my scope back and forth but obviously you still have to check your POI each time you move it again. I'll probably just go with the offset Tactacam mount setup I have now. Thanks again.

I use 3 different mounts - I have locator marks on the cam at 12 and 6 o’clock, swell as some mounts, so I can mount it in different positions.

1st pic is my main mount that I use on the rail of my 20ga turkey gun, as well as a couple crossbows with a picatinny scope ring attachment. I’ve use the long reach attachment in the 2nd pic in the past, and the 3rd pic is what I use attached to the underneath of the barrel on my .450 Bushmaster.

I had it mounted on my ML back in December when I took my nice 10 point but I was in a hurry and afraid of busting the other deer that I didn’t get a chance to turn it on.

You lose a lot of light with anything using prisms and mirrors unless you pay for really HIGH quality glass. It works fine but keep that in mind. It is really cool to see what your scope sees in your videos though.

Hey that's cool. I have two things I say to myself before I get down on my scope. Click off the safety, Start the Tactacam. I'm glad it's not three things, I'd have to make a list.
I use the under the scope mount in the second picture. However it was a loose fit so I had to wrap black electric tape around the picatinny where I used it so it would fit tight. That works like a champ.
Deer season is almost over here. I had a great year and tagged out so I'm going to be hunting hogs. Texas has one and a half million feral hogs and they do four hundred million dollars worth of damage a year. You don't even have to have a hunting license to kill them anymore. The six I kill this year don't make a difference but they're fun. Thanks again for the info. Have a good one.
That's great. I see what they are talking about now. Did it take you long to get it adjusted right?
Pretty much plug and play. Nothing to adjust other than scope eyepiece.

Thanks. I really like the magnification through the scope. The 8th power that's on the Tactacam 5 does not zoom like that. Okay, I will make a decision soon. Have a good one.
The only benefit with FTS i see is the additional zoom which should pull in the shot sequence but at the same time will have the crosshairs in the middle of the screen.

Yes I can see that. I have zoom video software on my computer and an app on my phone that will do the same thing. I'm probably going to pass on it for now. Thanks

Something else to think about. Although 4k is plenty high resolution but depends on how much you zoom in will also make the image grainy.
Its never an easy solution :)

Yes I figured that out when I first started using it. I usually shoot in slow motion now because it shoots more frames per second allowing me to zoom in better without the frames jumplng.
Just remember - these zoom features are digital zoom. It’s just taking the same picture and spreading the pixels out more for a bigger picture.

Optical zoom is like your rifle scope - turn it up and the lenses move inside to actually bring the image closer.

Samsung offers 5 different QLED - 50R, 60R, 70R, 80R, and 90R. The 80R was more than I wanted to spend and didn’t see the 65” 90R was worth an extra $850. The wife thought we should have gotten the 75” - that was an extra $1200! I think she just likes to spend money.

Yes I understand but I think my side mount will work fine for now unless your wife wants to buy me the FTS attachment.
