Big woods deer are tough to hunt. Public ground and 17 more days to get er done.... Nice to know a big one is around.....5 inches of snow heading our way Sunday.
It seems it's seldom easy for me up here....
Only good thing is they are still rutting. Fresh scraps and rubs.
The buck pics are twenty yards from my blind.....

I think you will be fine regardless of the weather situation. Just grab the bull by the horns and tough it out !

After a six hour sit this morning ,the Bota was a welcome sight.... I'm hunting with my Grim reaper now. Just too much clothing to pull a bow.....

That is a nice buck.
Have you got a track kit for the quad in case the snow gets deep?
All the best.

Good luck on him, man! The big boy in my spot is mostly nocturnal, so I'm trying to pick my times when I hunt him. Trying not to educate him, like I've done in past years. I only go in now when it's more likely he'll come out of his hiding spot down in a thick swamp before dark. I watch carefully for little or no wind, and no heavy precip. Rut can help, but can make them more unpredictable too. Especially in the 'lock down' time when all they want to do is bed near a hot doe...they may not move much then.
I'd say hunt him less, but smarter! Then drive a pointy stick through his wind bags!!!! :D

Moon, impressive get out there. Even more impressed with your natural ground blind. If it's not it sure looks like one I'd be in. :D
I’m sitting there tomorrow:) The farmer pushed the pile up and left a cozy little hole in the middle for me:p.
Sincere good luck you sir! Slay'em with your R26. Hope you get horns like that SE Virginia buck!

Nice buck there CA! Good luck with him. You grow them big up there for sure.
I love hunting big woods and usually spend 2 solid weeks up in Barrie's Bay chasing those big boys or in Maine, Northern NH, or Northeast Kingdom of Vt. When I was really healthy the idea of fresh snow had me drooling to get on a big track and chase him all day, then pick him up again the next day until one of the gang got him. This was with rifles or muzzleloaders but often we would catch them bedded down 30 meters away so crossbow would do just fine.
Now I do a lot more sitting dark till dark which is a different challenge in single digit temps Farenheit. Going on 7 straight weeks of hunting this season with only 4 or 5 missed or partial days. I can count my deer sightings on my fingers, passed couple small bucks that were slam dunks and couldn't get a shot at my big boy with the bow...yet! Only one more week to get it done.
