I was looking for a pic i thought i saved of a Trad bow gobbler i shot in the BH. But cant find it. But came across this fall gobber i got using the Excal Matrix 330. This was well before the love affair with mission bows. If i recall i was shooting G5 striker 125 gr 1.5" cut fixed heads. And I think that's a Leupold crossbow scope. Pretty good shootin bows.

20 yards in front of my blind this morning. I could have done a head shot with a guillotine head.

I went out this morning with my wife and she helped me set up my Ameristep Magnum chair blind. It overlooks the main crossing area where I hunt. I was able to drive within 20 yards of where I set it.

Problem is it’s suppose to rain Friday all night prior to the opener Saturday and I don’t want to leave ruts in the farmer’s lane, and a 200+ yards hike might be too far to go carrying my R10 and Fieldpod Max with my sore hip, thigh, and knee.

We’ll see how it goes - season runs April 23 thru the end of May I believe.

Well, I couldn’t make the opener Saturday - my left hip, thigh, and knee are killing me. I’m hobbling around the house with a friggin’ cane - standing straight up is no problem, but when I bend the leg all hell breaks loose.

Although my hip has gotten worse, I’m starting to think my thigh and knee pain is from a pinched nerve that runs down the top of the thigh. I’ve got a Mr Teeter in the garage, my wife and I are going to bring it into the house and set it up in the family room. It’s worked well for me in the past.

That said, opening day yesterday had a hen in front of my blind around 9:30am and 2 Tom’s at 2:13pm - I would have shot either one but probably wouldn't have been sitting in the blind at that time of day.

The season is 8 days old and I haven’t been able to go out yet. In addition to my left hip, thigh, and knee hurting, my stiff neck decided to get worse as well. My daily challenge now is going up 5 steps from the sofa downstairs to the kitchen table on the 2nd level.

This fool was strutting 20 yards in front of my chair blind yesterday. I’m keeping a matrix for the times they show up in front of my cam so I’ll know the optimum times to go out if I ever can. I start PT this Thursday the 5th.

TP, pulling for you man!!! We don’t think too much about our health until it slaps us down. I know from experience.
I have taken a few turkeys over the years but stopped hunting them about 15 years ago. I still like watching them. I had 5 gobblers in a line cross the road in front of me yesterday at the farm.
I’ll never forget the day (about 20 years ago) my long time hunting buddy called me on our Garmins, telling me he had just shot a turkey out in the field. I told him I would be there in a few minutes. As I was walking up the edge of the field to his stand I could see the bird lying out in the field so I walked over to pick him up. It was a damn’d buzzard!!!!!🙄😆. My buddy was so embarrassed!! I never let him live that one down.
This was my last gobbler, a little less than 20 years ago.

These turkeys must know I can’t walk, this was yesterday. This is a hefty looking Tom.

I start PT this Thursday.

I might try eBay or Craigslist for some marijuana gummy bears.

3 Tylenol 500’s per day keeps me going……barely🙄
I’ve been taking 6-8 per day - barely makes it tolerable. Dr doesn’t want more than 3000mg daily.

Wife was over to her mother's and brother's today, brother has back and anxiety issues so he has marijuana gummy bears and she brought one home. Only took half but 30 minutes later I took the other half. Neck feels better but not much change in my back and leg.

There a store near me that sells them and we might drive over tomorrow to see what’s available. Hope I don’t become a druggy.

1st pic is some Toms right in front of my blind Wednesday.

2nd pic is a Tom right in front of my blind this morning - at the same time I was half way thru my first session at PT. I’m not sure how effective this 1st session was.

My biggest daily task is going from the sofa to the bathroom and then back to the sofa again.

If I don’t ever get out to hunt maybe I’ll make photo album of all the ones I could have gotten. 🤣

This was this morning right in front of my dang blind - they must know I’m laid up.

I might drive my truck out next to my blind and use my 20 ga out the window.

Every damn morning, noon, and evening like clockwork.

Orthopedist gave me a prescription yesterday for some steroid pills and they seem to be making the pain more tolerable.

If this improves towards the end of the week I may try to park close to my blind and hobble to it this Friday. We’ll see how it goes.

And here was this morning again, along with a couple more shots plus another couple pic of Toms on cam #2.

Orthopedist says my hip looked fine last Tuesday - but it still hurts. I see a spine specialist June 6th. Turkey season ends May 30th.

I’m going to see if I can get in to see this Chiropractor early next week that my boys says is great - I just need one day where I can walk from my truck to my blind and set up a couple decoys. I’m sure I could pound one first time out.
