Bought a whitetail hunter II a few weeks back and within a few days the serving started separating on the cables and string. I called Barnett and was told that they don't warranty the string and cables that I should go to a shop and have them reserved. Has anyone had this same outcome with customer service on strings and cables.

No, my cables are 2 years old and still running strong.

Did you get this new or used?

String and cables are classed as normal wear so there is no warranty.
A couple of things you can do when you get the new string and cables before shooting the crossbow:
1)but a wee dab of Gorilla glue at the end of the serving. This is added insurance to prevent slippage
or serving separation.
2)if using arrows with 1/2 moon nocks, serve over the original bowstring with BCY .030 serving as tight as
possible. This will protect your original serving and being this BCY .030 is extremely tough and wear resistant,
one can get many more shots before this serving has to be replaced.

I have done this and every 8 or 16 shots (I shoot 8 shots before retrieving my arrows) I lightly lube the rail area
of the serving with Trident Silicone Lube. This is a high quality product available on the internet in a 2 ounce
jar. It does not dry out or gum up. A wee bit goes a long way.

All the best.
Take care.
