Contact Barnett and ask them where their Barnett Whitetail Hunter II is built as they are showing it on their website when you select "Crossbows" and then scroll down to view various series and models. It is shown on page 2 of their website. If they question you, just explain where you purchased your crossbow, where it was made, (where the Amazon website listed it as made-U.S.A.) and what has been happening. Nothing to lose.
If you wish to stay with Barnett, the 2018 Barnett Droptine STR can be set up to be a very accurate crossbow. One has to check to make sure the cams are level in the uncocked position and the picatinny rail may require a shim at the front to make it parallel with the rail-stock. I purchased mine from Lancaster Archery and provided feedback on their website how I made the corrections.
Wishing you all the best.
