If you were a little off center and hit the rounded edge, that arrow could have ricocheted around like a bullet.

An old hunter was curious to see what will happen if i hang the target.
I did, it does an hole but do not go trought it because the target moves back quickly.

The 2 holes are quite close.

Me and you know that: whatever xbow cannot penetrate steel.

I remenber my father's shotgun. It cannot penetrate steel either. Only his Mauser 50 caliber can ;)

The 2+ lbs heavy pans are a real challenge, for sure.
Not sure what a hardened bodkin tip would do.

During my military service I've been told a steel-core bullet from a AK47 penetrates 7mm at a 30° angle. We were never allowed to try it, though ...

Anyway, to have better results should i by a Mosin Nagant? This guy had my same idea;
