I got up yesterday morning with my 415 killer instinct cross bow and it was shot 4 times to set the scope , I put the wax on the string kept it in a case after getting it at rural king at the end of last deer season while I was hunting in my stand with a friend with it pulled back sitting in front of him with the safety on the kind exploded barely missing us both . I took perfectly good care the bow was never dropped scratches or damaged in any form or fashion owning several crossbows there is no explanation other than these things are not reliable point blank ..

Waiting on a reply from killer instinct on the warranty , also it was not a dry fire it was hanging on a rack in the stand in front of us . No one touched it moved or did anything it was about 34 degrees out and it just exploded . I never even scratched , dropped , bumped or damaged it it was most definitely a faulty bow !

Lots of crossbows manufactured overseas are having limb failures in regards
to splintering or breaking. Some crossbows limbs are manufactured by the
same company but sold under different names, depending what company
wishes to purchase them.
They are either using poor quality material, a poor mixture or not curing the
limbs properly.
Many parts of these crossbows are interchangeable.

If the importer is fortunate to have replacement parts, one can obtain them, but
until the manufacture makes the necessary improvements, one is going to receive
the same faulty replacements.

Being some of these imported crossbows are so cheap to purchase here, the
importer is not stocking parts.

Thank fully no one got injured.
Take care.

Part of things I purchased a new 430 expedition crossbow it seems to be a lot better quality bow and better than that I get to live another day to hunt !

Man, that was a tough read.
My take is either a dry-fire, or there was a damaged cable and it let go while sitting.
Would be interesting to see pics of the bow.
Not uncommon that people still have first posts like this before disappearing into the abyss.
It was a bit of a tough read, but I can follow what was said -

"I was hunting in my stand with a friend with it pulled back sitting in front of him with the safety on"

An English teacher may cringe, but I get the just of what he shared. What I don't get is your take on what happened? How does that translate into a damage cable or he dry-fired it?

How many posts does a person need to make on this forum to be taken for their word? Just curious?

Like I said,4 years ago when this xbow came out there was an epidemic of limbs melting down with this model and pages of talk about it here on CBN. Have also seen posts from members saying they have never had a problem. Fast and accurate, loud, bit of a kick on the shot. Probably needs at least 450 gn arrow. I was shooting 400 gn and limbs did not hold up. Have not seen any knocks on the 425 model. KI warranty is outstanding.

Alright flamers y’all can stop. He didn’t come in here being rude so you guys don’t have a right to be rude and condescending to him.
He’s engaging in the conversation and providing pictures and willing to provide other details that have been demanded and he hasn’t even replied in a rude manner to those being rude.
I try to live by the golden rule, do onto others as they have done to me. If someone comes in swinging I’ll step right up and swing back, if someone comes in and they get swung on, then I try to talk some sense into y’all, we are all adults several times over. Most of y’all 50-60 plus. I don’t like to swing at my elders or be rude to them but come on guys straighten up.

I have experience with the Killer Instinct Burner 415 model. That experience is horror... my luck was that it broke before the statutory return time to the seller expired. It didn't explode, I think it should have "exploded" ... Complete garbage that I will never buy again. Good bye cheap models from KI ,..maybe sometime X1/ XP OF respecting the memory it is a in innovation and good compound crossbow.,.

Sorry to hear but if you have a favorite baseball team or football team and they have a bad year you give up on them or do you root for them next year too well I upgraded from the killer Instinct lethal weapon to the burner 415 and I've had no problems with it including with the new silent dead crank which is way better and I go out three to four times a week I've had no limb problems with the burner 415 I'm glad I didn't give up on my team and customer service is the greatest always have taken care of any issues beyond warranty thank you Dawn

No problems here with swat408, xp or x1.

That sucks it happened to you but KI will take care if you.

With some of the guys here, lighten up on the OP. Hard read, whatever.

When I started posting here i was accused of being "John carlson" or "john connolly." I couldn't believe some of the twits accusing me of being someone else . Sometimes, this place can be a tough crowd with a select set of individuals.

The majority is friendly and helpful.

I too had two sets of KI 415 limbs crack. Loud pop while fine tuning broadheads one day. Warrantied front end and replaced. Second time sitting in the stand just at the end of shooting light, loud pop, looked for cause. Found another split KI limb. Nothing but the pressure of a cocked xbow. They didn’t really want to send another new front end. They did and xbow is gone. Warranty at KI is tops for me. Not a 415 fan anymore.

My 9th shot on a brand new front end with 456 grain arrows. Snap, crackle, pop while I was aiming it.
KI replaced the entire outfit with a brand new one within 5 work days.
I had it sold locally but reconsidered because warranty always follows the original owner.
Now up to 21 shots on it...🤞
I love the bow but it needs to earn my trust back. It's a great backup bow in the meantime.

No matter how good any manufacturer’s warranty is come hunting season the service will most likely disappoint you. For any crossbow that has questionable reliability I would suggest having a backup or spare parts. In the majority of cases manufactures will not sell spare parts unless they are needed for a repair and must be delivered to an approved repair shop. In those cases a spare crossbow will save your hunt season!! That’s reality for a lot of crossbows.

Excalibur sells limbs but don’t know about other parts.

Shoot an arrow with a total weight over 450 grains, make sure to keep everything lubed up, make sure you load the arrow correctly every time and that it is fully seated, familiarize yourself with how to cock and operate the bow correctly and go shoot! Welcome to CBN!
