Hello all, so glad i found this forum.

Im shooting a Dagger 390 made by center point, 20" carbon express pile driver bolts. Field points fly perfect, broadheads have ZERO consistency.I mean literally all over the place at 30yrds and beyond. I ve shot 4 diff type of expandables and 2 types fixed blade all 100Gr. I did try adding a bolt length of weedeater cord to 1 bolt was it seemed to make it more consistent but still not real great 6-8" off POA. Without the cord 8-20" off POA. Any and all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

EH

It could be the type of vanes that you have on the arrows don't match up well with the type of broadheads your using. Try better arrows with different vanes. I'm sure there's going to be other members with alot of good options chiming in soon. I personally like Spinal Tapps or Black Eagle Executioners with the SK300 vanes with at least about 17% FOC.

Others have had good suggestions. If you are shooting good groups with field points, but poorly with even mechanical broadheads, it points to a few things. Arrows not spine indexed, not enough spine, not enough FOC, not enough fletching control. Apparently someone at our club had a similar experience to yours. I was at the range, and found 5 Piledrivers (one broken) in the trash can, along with the packaging. Not sure where the 6th arrow was. I know there are people who use them and think highly of them, but after seeing that, it sure won’t be me.

A lot of good advice already posted here. Unfortunately broadhead tuning is a process of elimination. There are numerous forces affecting the flight of an arrow, broadheads magnify all of them.

It starts with the crossbow. Inspect and test everything - hardware, timing, tiller, string alignment, etc.

Bolts - again, inspect everything. Ensure the arrow has sufficient spine, FOC, etc. Fletching can make a big difference - I like some helical on a quality vane like Flex Fletch. Spin testing the broadheads is also critical - if it doesn’t spin straight it won’t fly straight.

Broadhead tuning can sometimes be a pain, but when those arrows consistently hit the point of aim it’s very satisfying.

Broadheads all over the place, Field points dead on

Thanks to everyone and all the input and info. In my former life I was an archery pro at a shop in MD. All things led me to the bolt spine and FOC. SO....I bought some better quality bolts, Black Eagle Exterminators, pricey but by all means worth the investment. Brass inserts and stiffer spine made every broadhead (4 diff types) I have shoot well to 50yrds, some def better than other. The Exodus Xbow fixed swept blades are amazing, a knock off rage expandable is runner up. Again, thanks to all that gave their input. The xbow tuning I went in circles with on the phone with a Pro shop, If the bow was out of tune it would perform inconsistant with field points as well

I have an old Ten Point ProFusion crossbow. It has shot deadly accurate for 11 years. Each year I sight it in the 100 grain field tips and have never had a problem with any 10 point bolt: 1 - Pro Elite 20 inch, 2 - 20 inch Center punch and 3 - even a 22 in Pro V-22. This year I sighted it in threatening the small bullseye at 32 and 42 yards. Then the problem started, I have now used 4 different broadheads and they are ALL: Low,3-8 inches! and/or to the right. All of the broadheads used were 100 gr, same as field tips. I am NOT a bow or bolt expert, but it doesn't make sense that a crossbow will shoot the SAME and NEW bolts from different buys with field tips deadly accurate and then do something else with broadheads (I am talking about how could there be a problem with the crossbow?). Next, how, after 11 years of shooting different broadheads do Four (4) different kinds of broadheads have the SAME accuracy symptoms. I can only suspect that this may be the problem of the newer broadheads NOT lining up correctly, I read somewhere where the broadhead itself had to line up between 11 and 2 o'clock to shoot correctly. With my Ten Point arrows, the odd colored fletch must be in the grove) and then the broadhead itself does not line up between 11 and 2 o'clock, which I read is required for the broadhead to shoot correctly. Any comments?
