Cable Slide not staying on strings? Cables not twisted - KI Fuel 415

The cable slide is not attaching to strings well at all. In videos the person clicks the slide on the cables but mine will not stay on. Cable in videos and manual look twisted tightly. On mine, the strings where the slide is to go aren't twisted like other areas, so its a mushy, wider and loose string. When I try to fit the string it, the string widens and wont seat in, as it isn't twisted and compact. Would you guys have a remedy or tip on how this can be resolved? I feel like making the slide channels bigger for the strings to fit. Or makings it 1 area where both strings sit in comfortably, or do I want to prevent the strings from rubbing on eachother?

Please and thanks for any ideas

The reason the cables will not fit properly in the grooves of
the cable slide, there are no twists in that area of the cable.
Think how a rope is made. A certain amount of twists give it
strength.
A crossbow press is required to make any adjustment.
Once the twists are added, one has to check to make sure
the cams are in time. This may require adding 1/2 or full
twists if a cam is behind. All my timing is done with the crossbow
in the cocked position. Cocked and uncocked should match
but will be in a different position.
Note: axle to axle measurements are just a guide line as tuning can
make a change.
Do not modify the slide. If anything after adding twists, get rid of the
cable slide and serve that area with BCY .030 serving and lube well.
Wishing you all the best.
Take care.

Dang appreciate the long response and your time. So this is a crossbow I bought so that I had one in time for the rut. My Barnett splintered quite a bit opening day in the blind. Should I try to return or what would you do in order to use by the 8th/9th or so? Bought at Walmart. Thanks again

I agree - unfortunately the e cables have no twist in them. It appears the string does but not the cables. Just need to twist the cables and time the cams afterwards. Will need a press to do this and if you don’t have one yourself will need to take to a bow shop that does and works with crossbows. Hopefully they know what they are doing to get it done correctly for you.

May check with Walmart but they might not take it back…

Good luck getting it corrected or swapped out for something else so you can get into the woods!
