Choosing a crossbow: Need vs. Want

Need? I bought an Excal Vixen back in 2009 for my youngest son to use. I started using it when my left shoulder wouldn’t let me practice enough with my compound bows. Since then, I have killed only one or 2 deer that the Vixen may have been less than ideal. One in particular, and hard quartering away shot on a hyped up buck that paused a few seconds between chasing doe. Shot with my 380 and the broadhead just made it through the offside shoulder so I had blood to follow. The Vixen would have been adequate for most of my hunting since then, but I am not looking for another.

I want more compact, quiet as possible, easy rope cocking and decocking, accurate, good trigger. My Burky RDX has all that, but I wanted a bit more speed (for food plot hunting) so I bought a bow for heavier limbs and will soon make that change. I have a few other bows but the RDX goes hunting most of the time.
