Hello all, I’ve been shooting Vertical bows for along time now and do to some elbow/shoulder issues purchased a Mission Sub 1 XR a couple of years ago. I was initially shooting rage broadheads mainly because the shop where I bought the Sub 1 “threw them in“ when I purchased it. I have since moved on to 100 grain Sevrs 2.0s for this season and they fly great on the Wally World Mossy Oak bolts I picked up cheap (because after some searching are actually either Victory X Bolts or BEEs???) which I have nock tuned. On to my actual question. After I lost zero for some reason on the Hawke XB 1 (we’ll save that for another post) After re zeroing the bow I decided to see what the poi difference would be with some fixed blade heads. I shot some QAD Exodus 100 grain and Ramcat 100 grain heads. They shot 6” and 8” low respectively with no left or right poi shift, I was expecting a horizontal poi change due to some planing but not the drastic vertical change. Any thoughts/input would be much appreciated. Thanks

I practice with the Broad head and arrow I will use to shoot at deer and sight in with that as well.
I can not think of any Reason why i would care what one broad Head brand flys like against another
I would only care that broadhead brand that I chose shoots consistently to the same P.O.I. and will leave a devastating blood trail to follow and a very humane death for the animal.
Some times they whys really dont matter.

I do as well. But we have a few weeks of black bear archery the runs concurrent with the archery whitetail season. I was kicking around the idea of carrying a fixed blade or two in my quiver for bear. Next year I’ll just sight in and use fixed blades exclusively. Like I mentioned in my initial post I was surprised it was an elevation shift in poi and not windage at all. I posted because I thought maybe I was missing something.

yea its a lagit question, but it could be a multitude of reasons for this to happen.
If your bow is fast enough or lets say producing enough energy i think most heads would work for a bear.
The bear experts here would know more.

I am surprised you are seeing such a big difference in POI with Ramcats. Mine generally fly right with field points. I am shooting more like Sub 1 speeds, not XR. Most of the time fixed heads shoot way low it’s because the arrow shafts are under spined. If it were me, I would get better, stiffer arrows for that XR. BEEs, Zombie Slayers, or at least Bloodsports. Right now, you can just sight in for the broadheads (if they group well) and go hunt. For future seasons, I would invest in better arrows than Wally World. JME
