Break the bow down and put it in a standard rifle case or it may even fit in a break-down shotgun case. That's the best way in my opinion.

The Plano Manta case will work without bow disassembly but it is huge
I think that one might be too thin for airline travel. They will try their hardest to destroy any bow or gun case. I like the break it down idea and put it in the baddest rifle case you can afford. I bought some metal ones from cabelas that work well. I have taken them to alaska a couple times. they are pretty stout and have a ton of dings in them. Thanks Delta.

Johnny D, I just bought a Plano and it is lockable and says its "Airline approved" but like you and others say, airlines dry there derndest to break um! I know when my gun case went through the last time the handles were ripped off and there were dents every where. Sad but true, the break down idea might be the best, otherwise you are paying big bucks for a cbow specific hard case.

Other than for traveling in the air the Plano is a good case for the money, my TP fits perfect and balances well when carrying. Good luck

I agree with Buckeye... break it down and pack it in something so it can't be recognized as a crossbow. I have had BIG problems shipping crossbows in "crossbow" looking hard cases... I was told by a friend of mine who works for the post office that the anti-hunter types who work for the Post Office and the airlines will intentionally lose and / or abuse anything they recognize as hunting equipment. Sad but true... the post office once lost a crossbow I had packed in a Stingray hard case for TWO MONTHS... the guy I sold it to was LIVID with me, even tho I had paid for insurance, tracking, etc. I tried to tell him to have me UPS it to him but the mail was marginally cheaper so he insisted I mail it... then he was mad at ME when the post office lost it and thought I ripped him off. Turns out it had "accidentally" gotten shoved under "something" in "some corner" of a mail terminal in Oklahoma or somewhere...

I am going through this exact same thing right now USPS has lost me crossbow. I like this idea of breaking the bow down and packing it in a gun case.

They do the same thing to rifles. They try to break them. The high end rifle cases can take the punishment but you need to put a lock on it! A pelican case would be good or anything metal with a lot of foam. But be sure to get an airline approved lock and lock that bad boy. If I showed you pictures of my rilfe cases after flying it would blow your mind. If you think it would break if you stood on the tailgate of your pickup truck and threw it across the street dont put your bow in it. LOL, I know this seems extreme but its true. If you have another crossbow ship it seperatly. so then you know chances are one of them will get there safe.

Well this has helped a bunch......found out the place I'm going has a Tenpoint on hand -- so I am using theirs.

But I will be going other places -- so these ideas have been very helpful.
