I got a M380, 2-M405s and a BD400, each the month they came out. Put 1.5# TTs and Boo strings on each. Jerry’s 20” STs. Shot all 4 to 100 yards. Using a benchrest set-up and wind flags, I was getting slightly <2” 3-shot groups @100 yards. Then Boo said something about helically fletched Blazers were exceptional for Excaliburs. Tried a set of ST/H Blazers , 110g inserts/150g field points. Out of the BD400, Optimizer/4.5x14 Zeiss Conquest, I was getting almost 1” @ 100 yds.
Then, I got the SWAT 385/408. So easy to hand cock! Used a C-2 on BD400 to slightly improve accuracy. The SWAT almost matched the BD’s accuracy. 😳🥵 Then cracked limbs on M405s & BD400 - at the constricted riser area. Excal (Danny Miller) modified the 2 Matrix risers and sent a newly redesigned BD riser plus new limbs. I had previously opened and polished the riser pockets of the M380 which never had a limb problem. After getting the SWAT and prototype XP to test, I sold the Matrix bows and got very involved with testing for KI. They worked thru a lot of problems resulting in the final X1s being class acts and collector’s items plus the VX430 & LogiX. Newly manufactured Xcams and improved S&Cs made the top KI bows very competitive!
But, Excalibur wasn’t sleeping and greatly improved the M/BD limbs (the ‘Improved’ limbs) which stopped (actually, greatly reduced) the expansion in the limb pockets and increased the speeds 10-15’/sec. They are close to bullet proof. When combined with a flemish string and 450 ish or greater arrow wt, the BD400 is quiet and SWAT-like accurate. No experience but I expect the <400 Micros are similar. There’s nothing like having a light, simple, adequately fast, incredibly accurate crossbow that you have virtually unlimited faith in it’s reliability.
Whatever Excalibur you have that fits that last sentence in the previous paragraph is/are the one(s) to keep.
Just my experiences.
