Knowing what you know now. If your bow rack was empty - what would you buy?

Put whatever reason into this but you have no crossbow and opening day is upon you. With the experience you have in the world of crossbows what would you buy to get you out with confidence on opening day and through the season?

I’d like to say I’d buy what I’m shooting now but likely not. I’d have to error towards reliability as the key and likely get a reliable backup too…

For me going into my third year with the crossbow I would get a TenPoint Venom X or Turbo X as a primary - simply a solid hunter’s platform. As a backup I would likely get an Excalibur Mag Max again for reliability and ease of repair in a timely manner should something go wrong during the season.

Not saying I don’t have confidence in my choices now but I also have the benefit of a full bow rack of primary bows ready to go to the woods at any time. It’s just in this scenario those two would be/are more reliable IMO.

Put yourself into this scenario and share your choice/choices - may be beneficial to someone who may be in this exact scenario. 🤷‍♂️

I would get this.

Get an extra black limb set and rest easy. It would be small enough to use in my blinds, and my longest shots here are 30 the way I’m set up. If it would be something to buy now and hunt with ASAP (season is open here), it would be an Excal like this because they are very easy to set up. Three reasons I haven’t bought that one is 1. I just got an Axe 340, 2. I would take my Burky RDX any day over most bows unless food plot hunting comes into play. 3. my SWAT X1 with a few sets of extra limbs. ;)

Are we talking new bows that are out now? If so R470 for primary and Hybrid X for backup. I'd probably have a Mag Max for a 3rd option just to have a bow I could rioe cock if needed. I've found that I miss bows with sliding trigger boxes. 😢

Just is what it is - no bow, opening day around the corner - gotta get something to get you through the season. Brings “what can I get my hands on right now” too…

No wrong answers here - just a what would you do. 🤷‍♂️

The R470 w/Hybrid X and Mag Max as backup would get you through - I suppose… 🤣

I'd take the crazy amount of money I've sunk into this stuff, buy two cut-up whole cows, plenty of Crown Royal, Wild Turkey, and Maker's Mark and never look back...I can hook up the bass boat and break out a dozen baitcasters a heap cheaper.

That's a tough question. Have no real regrets with the eight I have, but in your scenario and had no bow and had to chit or get off the pot with opening day breathing down my neck, I'd drop the coin on a Turbo X in a NY minute, and don't even own one.

Main Bow - Ravin R29X - ease of cocking (best internal cocking system out of any bow I've owned...that's cock...not decock), accuracy, long distance shooting, maneuverability, short & slim profile.
Backup - Excalibur Mag 340 - dependability, accuracy, maneuverability, owner can replace limbs and strings without a press or taking it to a shop.

I am plenty happy with what I have so far in my Tenpoints Stealth NXT and Vengent S440 and so far my newly acquired KI Logix Logix 435 seems to be great. So something. Along those lines. Since they don't makes the Vengent or Stealth NXT probably something along the lines of the Stealth 450 or Turbo X. They are both plenty fast enough and can decock. And I don't currently have the Oracle style scope and personally would stick with just a regular scope it does what I need it to do. To each their own but that's like a brick on there and ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain.

Looking at these answers…..Boy you can’t hide money.. I guess I’m going to have to be the budget minded person of the whole bunch.🤣

And I wouldn’t throw my old bow under the bus especially since I’m going to be counting on it this year. So, I’ll pick what I’m currently shooting or a version of it. CP 425 be it a Heat, Amped or Patriot. But I will throw in the new Amped G2D as a second choice.
But I see a lot of cool bows and some really good answers. Variety is the spice of life. Love it.😀

Really interesting question. If we are talking new bows currently in production, I would get a Turbo X and a Hybrid X and then shoot some and decide which was my primary and which was backup. If used bows count, I would get another Swat X1 and then go somewhere I could shoot a Turbo X and Hybrid X and decide then which of those to buy.

Tenpoint titan 400. It gets almost no press but same design on front as the venom x w/o the decock which i neither want or need. Yes it has a synthetic rail but I've owned a couple tenpoints with synthetic rails and have never had an issue so that's of no concern to me. Obviously not for everyone but I'd be perfectly content with it.

Being a couple hours from Ten Point, I'd look at an economical pre-owned but warranted crossbow after doing some research on the most dependable. +-$800 would get a bow, arrows, heads, wax/lub and other bling and a decent target. I'd shoot for a year and decide likes and dislikes and move forward from there. If I liked it I'd talk with SEW about fabricating a DIY press or go whole hog.
