Knowing what you know now. If your bow rack was empty - what would you buy?

Put whatever reason into this but you have no crossbow and opening day is upon you. With the experience you have in the world of crossbows what would you buy to get you out with confidence on opening day and through the season?

I’d like to say I’d buy what I’m shooting now but likely not. I’d have to error towards reliability as the key and likely get a reliable backup too…

For me going into my third year with the crossbow I would get a TenPoint Venom X or Turbo X as a primary - simply a solid hunter’s platform. As a backup I would likely get an Excalibur Mag Max again for reliability and ease of repair in a timely manner should something go wrong during the season.

Not saying I don’t have confidence in my choices now but I also have the benefit of a full bow rack of primary bows ready to go to the woods at any time. It’s just in this scenario those two would be/are more reliable IMO.

Put yourself into this scenario and share your choice/choices - may be beneficial to someone who may be in this exact scenario. 🤷‍♂️

Would skip the Ripper 415 disaster. Straight to the TS 370, then when Northwoods was clearing em out for $250... Bought 2 more. 1100 shots on custom S@C,never failed to get s pass thru, Trigger is superb. As easy to rope cock as they make, aluminum rail and aluminum buttstock slide. 6.9 lb .Perfect hunting xbow.

In this scenario all of your bows are gone for whatever reason - vertical or otherwise… Opening day is upon you - what do you buy to get you out opening day and through the season? We’ve had a lot of crossbows plus rifles… Haven’t had a vertical bow listed yet. 🤷‍♂️

Already have dozens of guns I don't shoot, don't need or want a half dozen crossbows I don't shoot. I want one crossbow, I want it to be dependable, and if it fails, I want Customer Service I can depend on and parts close enough I can take an afternoon off and go get them if necessary.

That having been said, I was in exactly that position last year, and 2 years and 3 years prior to last year shooting a KI, so it definitely would not be a Killer Instinct, ever again. Fair product, but my experience with Customer Service sucked, every time,
during season.

Having seen issues across all manufacturers' products reported, seeing 400 FPS plus increasing the probability of issues reported, having experienced the lack of Customer Service with KI... I looked at bows below 400 FPS, from manufacturers close to home.

Didn't see anything in Bear's product line that impressed me, they're only an hour away. Most were bigger and heavier than what I wanted, found lots of reports on failed product, and a lot of bad reviews on their customer service.

Barnett is only 2 hours away, so I started going through their product line. Neighbor has always spoken very highly of their product, has a Recruit he's had for years without a hiccup, his son has a Recruit, granddaughter has a Recruit, never had a bit of trouble out of any of them. Needed a minor part for one of them, called 2 pm and ordered it, had it the next day at noon. Niece's husband broke a limb on his Barnett 2 years ago, bought it NIB but second hand, wasn't registered, he called them Monday morning, they registered it, accepted the warranty claim, issued RA number, told him to ship ASAP, he shipped Monday afternoon, had his bow back Friday morning.

Looking at their product line, I was leaning toward the XP370, but found a better price on the XP380 on Amazon, checked Availability from other Sellers, and found a 380 in a damaged box for 35% less than the 370, so... I'm shooting a Barnett XP380, and I would do it again in a heartbeat, knowing what I know now.

Scorpyd Death Stalker.
Warm carbon fiber that sucks up vibration.
Titanium hardware so, it's actually weatherproof.
Awesome trigger.
Very lightweight.

And I had a 300 Ultra Mag. I shot a 3 legged doe at 20yds once in the chest as a mercy killing. There was 6' blood spray pattern. That deer ran 1/2 a mile. Sold that for a small Remington Titanium.

After just getting into CB hunting after 40 years of compound bow hunting I'm far from an authority. I went cheap and bought a Ten Point Titan De-cock for $649 new. Shot it a bunch of times and didn't have to make much for adjustments. Used the Tenpoint Nemesis broad heads and dumped a smart long nosed ornery doe at 28 yards. It's been a long time since I had a compound in that low cost category but the Titan performed perfectly. I'm sure I'll move up as most have but entry level Titan did not disappoint.

I'm perfectly ... content with where I am right now. My Ten Point Nitro 505 @ 523fps/400gr/243ke and my Ravin R29X @ 450fps/400gr/180ke. I bought the Ravin first, so it was a primary that became a backup. If I had the Nitro505 and needed a backup it would probably be a Ten Point TurboX or Siege 425.
