Hello, I’ve been shooting an Excalibur Matrix 380 for years. It’s been reliable and has taken multiple animals, both from blinds and while stalking.
That said, the width of the 380 has become a challenge. In blinds (where I’m usually set about 40 yards from water), maneuvering is tight, and when I’m stalking in the West, I need something more compact and easier to carry. Shot distances vary, blinds average around 40 yards, but when stalking, I often face shots anywhere from 40 to 80 yards.
I’m looking for recommendations on crossbows that:
They are narrower than the Matrix 380, making them easier to use inside a blind.
Still performs reliably for longer shots in open country (40–80 yards).
They are manageable to carry and handle while stalking.
