So I bought a used Nitro 505 Veil Camo with 12 bolts, a pack of lighted Alfa nocks and the whole package. I looked over the whole bow with a magnified glass. It appears to be MINT! There's not even a ding on it, anywhere. The only thing I found is the string serving is worn, where the bolt hits. I want to buy a whole new string obviously . I'm sure most guys on here are going to say to buy a new TP brand string. I figured, I would ask anyways because it's seems like 1 season shouldn't wear a factory string like this? Has anyone used 60x brand or had better luck with a different brand? The bows used ,so its not warrantied anyways. I have a Nitro XRT as a back up, till I service this new bad boy. Let me know your 2 cents.

Checking 60X custom string website for the Nitro 505:
Bowstring and cable set $159.95
Bow string $44.95
I have purchased bowstring and cables from 60X several years ago.
If one goes this route check the length as compared to the package label.
Do a pre-stretch before installation. The loop ends are served with very fine
serving where ever one buys. Installing and removing for fine tuning can
easily damage this serving. The pre-stretch saves a fair bit of time later.
Wishing you all the best.
Take care.

I have easily got 2 seasons on my TP threads. I was lucky enough to order some Perry24s before his announcement so I have a good set on mine and those backups. Personally, I think the TP factory string are fine and change every 2 years anyway, saying them as backups.

Wow, so this seems normal for these 505's strings.Im not very impressed even with a 2 year life span. I very anal about maintenance, lubing and waxing my strings too. These bows are super expensive but Im blessed to be able to one. Well, I'm defiantly hanging on to my XRT Nitro as back up until this seasons over at least. I have a 2005 Ten Point Pro Elite for a back up, back up lol! So any other feedback on a string that last longer then 2years???

The life of crossbow strings can very greatly by the design of the crossbow,
how well the bowstring and cables are maintained and the amount of shooting
one does. Very little shooting as in sighting in and only hunting, they can last.
Target shooting daily or even weekly greatly reduces the length some of the
bowstring and cables last. Narrow axle to axle crossbows are much harder
on bowstrings due to the narrower arrow latch area than say the front mounted
riser ones where the bowstring comes down outside of the cams. Inside the cams
creates a faster crossbow due to a longer power stroke but a narrower string angle
at the latches.
Wishing you all the best.
Take care.

I lube and wax my strings every time I shoot it. Im crazy about over maintenance. What these flag ship bows cost, Im fine with that. Looks like im hanging on the XRT for 1 more season, till I change out this string. Bow season here in MA starts October 1. So I can't risk having a problem this late in the season.
